Red-neck Begone!

WORTH IT

I had the third of a trio of Excel-V treatments on my face and neck with Nurse Lynn Wojton at Center Aesthetic in NYC at the end of January to address some ruptured capillaries and redness around my nose, and particularly my very pink/red neck. While Excel isn't nearly as uncomfortable as Fraxel (which I've also undergone, with fantastic results), the immediate after-effects are pretty gnarly for a few days. My face looked a little like moldy bread - I had a zillion tiny little blue-black bruises from the zaps, as well as some pretty interesting swelling around my eyes. I wasn't at all alarmed - Lynn is phenomenal about communicating what to expect from any given treatment, and we'd agreed ahead of time to be pretty aggressive with the laser settings - and after maybe three days, the swelling had resolved and the bruises were fading fast. Best part is, at 46 my complexion is more even and clear than it's ever been, and my neck is now the same tone as my face, which I didn't think was possible. I'm beyond pleased with the result, and would recommend Excel-V to anyone looking to get rid of blotchiness and capillaries, or to just improve their overall complexion!

ORIGINAL POST

Redneck No More!

After getting Fraxel treatments from Lynn for a couple of years with fantastic results, I recently took her advice and booked a trio of Excel V laser treatments to even out my facial complexion and reduce the noticeable red flush on my neck/collarbone. I'm two treatments in - two passes on my face and one on my neck - and I can't believe the difference. At 46, my skin looks healthier, younger, and more refined than it ever has, and I'm beyond pleased. The Excel process itself isn't terrible - just some minor zapping and warmth, then a feeling like a sunburn for a couple of hours - but depending on the setting intensity and how your skin responds to treatment, be prepared to look a little rough for a few days afterward until the teeny bruise-spots resolve. Lynn made it clear before we started that I would likely bruise, so I wasn't upset that my neck looked like moldy bread - I just threw on a scarf and went about my business. I also had some swelling under my eyes, but that was gone within a day or two of treatment. I'm two weeks out from Treatment #2, and I'm amazed at how clear, even, and refined my face looks, and how not-red my neck is, FINALLY. Again, I have to hand it to Lynn for her comprehensive knowledge and spot-on advice, and for her fantastic support staff!

Did you get under eye veins zapped? May I ask what setting the laser was on? I want to have this laser treatment but I'm just worried that I'll get burned or really bruised up. I requested time off from work I hope I look normal in 2 weeks
We did do my under-eyes - aside from being very puffy for a few days afterward, there wasn't any bruising or blotching there. I don't know what setting the laser was on, but I do know it was pretty aggressive (which of course I discussed - and agreed to - with Lynn before the treatment started). If you can afford multiple treatments, then perhaps the setting on each treatment could be lower to reduce bruising - but I wanted maximum bang for my buck, so I said crank it up. :) As for actual *burns*...that's among the warnings in the waiver you sign prior to treatment - but that's also why it's wiser to see someone like Lynn for something like Excel V, rather than having it done at a regular spa or something where the person operating the laser may or may not be as experienced and conscientious. Again, I was personally a little taken aback at the bruising on my neck - but again, I am absolutely thrilled with the results, and can say it was 100% worth it. Hope this helps!
