Hello Real Self World!
I have always hated my nose and wanted to get a rhinoplasty. I have gone to several consultations over the last ten years and decided to finally go for it after seeing a friend's beautiful results. I wanted my bridge to be lowered, my nostrils to be defined and the drooping tip to be removed.
I am on day 5 post-op and it's pretty much exactly how everyone describes. Day of surgery was totally fine and I felt confident and calm in my decision. The surgery itself literally felt like a deep and relaxing sleep. I woke up feeling totally fine with zero pain and even joked with my nurse in the recovery room before going home. I started icing immediately in the car in the way home because my swelling started right away.
Day 2 I woke up feeling a lot worst. Like I got hit by a bus actually. I couldn't believe how much of a toll the surgery took on my entire body. I expected my face to hurt but not my entire body to feel so completely run down. I couldn't really get up for most of day 2,3 and 4 and had to stay in bed and nap for a big portion of the day.
I am now on day 5 and I am feeling better at times but with periods of ups and downs still. My swelling has decreased and bruising has definitely calmed down. I read about a lot of people only needing the perks for 1 or 2 days and I am definitely still on them (1 every 4 to 5 hours) and start to feel beat up by the time I need to take it again. I was going to go to the mall today but after I put on makeup to cover the bruising and changed clothes, I felt so run down, I ended up having to go back to bed.
Hopefully tomorrow is a better day! I get my cast off on day 7 so I am excited about that! I'll keep you all posted.

Congrats on your surgery! Can't wait to see the results. You are so brave for wanting to go to the mall with your cast on. I'm so embarrassed when I have to go outside for anything. I feel like everyone is just starring up a storm. Good luck!

Hey!
I am a makeup artist and I am able to completely cover the bruising so I think that helps me feel more confident going out in public. Generally I find that people are so consumed in themselves that they rarely pay attention to anyone else anyway. Even when we feel like people are staring at us, they aren't. However, with the bruising, I also feel like I look a bit scary. I had one guy in an elevator look at me and say "I don't want to get into a fight with you!" and I laughed and said "well, clearly I didn't win". HAHA! You just have to make the best of it and know that you will look like an ogre before looking like the princess.
What day are you on post op right now? I get my cast off tomorrow and I feel a LOT better today. I'm so happy that the worst is over!

Cast off!
gsmakeupartNovember 7, 2016
Hey guys!
I got my cast off today and my stitches removed. I'm so thrilled with the profile!!! Yaaaaay!!!
When I first looked in the mirror, I definitely felt like a bit of an alien/avatar (which I expected from reading reviews). I look pretty weird from the front because it's totally swollen but I am SO excited to see the swelling decrease and start enjoying this new look! I can already see through the swelling and know what it's going to look like and it's absolutely perfect.
What do you guys think?

It looks great! Cant wait to see it 3-4 weeks in. That seems to be the sweet spot. I'm scared to see mine without the cast!

Don't get scared because you look super duper weird from the front! Like an avatar. People aren't kidding. So don't freak out. Lol. I even lost my breath for a minute but I know it's swelling

Oh I'm not sure actually! I'm gonna post some pics with makeup on now. I'm 6 days post op only so don't mind the swelling

You look beautiful! Congrats!

Wow!!! Your result is lovely. You're quite swollen still so don't be discouraged with that! I'm on post op day 5 and I have similar swelling and bruising as you!!! But I hope you like your result it's gorgeous.

Thanks so much!!! Yes I am so swollen and I feel so self conscious because I look a bit like an alien without a ton of makeup on. I'm also still very run down and I start work again in a couple of days. Hopefully I see improvements quickly so I can get back to normal! Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate the kind words

I think besides yourself, only people very close to you will notice you're swollen. Work people may say you look different but they won't be able to tell exactly how. Drink lots of water, rest and keep your head elevated! It'll take time but be happy with your results and be patient!!!
