I had been unhappy for some years about.deep vertical lines above my upper lip. I spent a long time researching possible treatments and laser techniques. My quest finally led me to Dr. Joel Cohen at About Skin Dermatology in Englewood, Colorado.
I was impressed the moment I met Dr. Cohen, he was very professional and after a thorough exam and discussion about what I hoped to achieve Dr. Cohen assessed my condition and made recommendations. He gave me a very balanced realistic viewpoint of what I could expect. He never over-promised. He explained that I would need at least two and possibly three ablative laser treatments to correct the severe sun damage and deep lines above my lip. He showed me photos of his patients and explained the procedure in detail. He answered all my questions and made sure I knew what was involved. I knew then, that Dr. Cohen was the doctor I trusted to perform laser resurfacing on my face. I had ny first full face Erbium Resurfacing in April of 2014. I had a mild sedative, pain medication, numbing cream and dental blocks but still experienced some pain especially around my mouth. I knew my face would be red, swollen and a little bloody still I was a little shocked when I looked in the mirror. I was glad I had seen pictures of other patients and knew I was alright. After the second day I felt better and by the fifth day my face began to peel. Once I began to heal it was exciting the fresh new layer of skin. At three months post treatment I knew I would need the second laser treatment Dr. Cohen said would be necessary. By October 2014 I had completed my second laser resurfacing. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. The lines have dramatically diminished. I would like to stress to you that for me, it is critical that any cosmetic procedure does not in any way draw attention to itself. You don't want to look like you've had work done. That is where the art comes in and Dr. Cohen has mastered it. He has excellent aesthetic judgement. Some particularly satisfying objective proof of the improvement came from friends whom I had not seen for some time. They commented on how fresh and radiant my skin looked. I can't tell you how good this makes me feel-with the improvement and renewed self-esteem. It is very gratifying. I highly recommend Dr. Joel Cohen not only is he an expert on skin cancer and aesthetics he is a caring individual and passionate about his patients.
