I am 48 days post op and am thrilled with my decision to roll back the years off of my neck and face! My neck is awesome looking and no more jowls! The jowls had been bothering me since I was 36 and were getting worse every year - there just wasn't anything that fillers could do to help with jowls or my neck.
The first 3 days were the worst part of the whole process. By day 5 I felt so much better, but I didn't feel like I looked like myself anymore because the swelling distorted my face. I am happy to report that after returning to work 2 weeks after surgery, all I got were tons of compliments about how I must have had a great vacation because I looked "great", "rested", "thinner", etc. (I did lose 8 pounds during that first two weeks - food is a bit hard to manage with the tightness in your mouth - so that helped with my transformation.)
I resumed a light work out about Day 7 or 8 - just a stationary bike and some weights and then every day after that, gradually increased the duration and added planks, sit-ups, etc.
After about 20 days of sleeping sitting up on my sofa, I finally felt comfortable enough to sleep laying down (but still kept my head slightly elevated with pillows). I think the Vitamedica and cutting out all alcohol for a month before surgery really helped with the swelling and bruising. The bruising on my neck was treated about a week after surgery with both IPL to break up the bruising and a lymphatic drainage massage from the folks that my doc has trained to work on his patients. I saw a difference in one day - it was amazing. The bruising on the sides of my face definitely took longer to go away, but after two weeks I easily covered them with makeup. By Day 23 I felt like I was pretty much back to normal but looked 10 years younger!
At this point, my focus is on the scar and lumpiness under my chin which I've been told is normal and subsides with time. Dr. Imola has injected me a few times with cortizone and the lump is almost gone. I will want to have the chin scar treated soon to help reduce the redness. The other scars are completely unnoticeable or hidden behind my ears.
After the first week back to work, the tightness around my neck combined with sitting all day resulted in major neck and shoulder pain/tightness. So went back to get massages - two within 3 days of each other did wonders.
In summary, I know I look so much better than before. What I love about Dr. Imola's work on my face is that I don't look like I've had "work done". I look younger but not pulled or stretched. I'm glad I didn't wait one day longer to have the surgery!
