Consultation Review for Restylane

I'm going to be one of those annoying people that writes a review before actually having a procedure, but for good cause: I want everyone to know right away how wonderful Dr. Hoenig is. If you do your research, you'll find nothing but amazing things said about him in every corner of the internet where he's mentioned (message boards, physician review sites, Real Self, Yelp, etc). I'm a bit of an over-researcher, so you can take my word for it. :)

To give some background and context, for the past few years I have been researching and considering procedures to address the aging around my eyes and volume loss in my mid-face. In my exhaustive effort to find who's the best at addressing these issues, I learned that Dr. Hoenig is a leading expert in the U.S. (if not the world) at eye and mid-face rejuvenation. I live in Denver, so seeing him is not exactly convenient. As such, I thought it prudent to look at surgeons in Denver. I consulted with two of the best/most respected surgeons here in Denver (one prominent facial plastics surgeon, and one ASOPRS oculoplastic surgeon). While I don't doubt the talent of these two, I didn't leave their offices feeling a solid "YES" after consulting with them. So, I finally took the plunge and traveled to LA today to consult with Dr. Hoenig, and I understand now why everyone speaks so highly of him!

It's worth noting that I have absolutely no questions about Dr. Hoenig's skill and expertise because his reputation precedes him and speaks for itself in that regard. During my consultation, he REALLY took the time to listen to me about my concerns. He gave me a better understanding of the anatomy of my face and the way it is aging based on my ethnicity. Most importantly, he discouraged two of the procedures that I thought I needed (a fat transfer and upper lid blehparoplasty). Even though it's not what I wanted to hear, he explained to me why I'm not a good candidate for a fat transfer (my skin is too thin), and he told me outright that he doesn't believe I need an upper lid bleph at this point. He recommended Restylane and allayed my concerns about biofilms with fillers. What really impressed me though, is that he didn't assume or expect that I'd have him do the Restylane. He started to give me some tips about what to do should I seek to have it injected by someone in Denver. I don't think he realized I already made my mind up that if I'd have anything done, it would be by him, and I appreciated his humility. There is no doubt that I could go to any number of other surgeons and they'd be happy to perform that fat transfer and bleph on me, but at this point, I am so confident in Dr. Hoenig's expertise that I wouldn't even consider getting a second opinion on those two procedures. And, I will absolutely be traveling back to LA in short order to have Restylane injections according to his recommendation (I wasn't able to today because I'd taken Ibuprofen in the last week and he was concerned about bruising).

Apologies for the long-winded review, but I believe it's very rare to find a surgeon who has an impeccable reputation, level of skill and expertise, integrity, AND an amazing bedside manner; Dr. Hoenig has it all, so I feel it's important to recognize him for that! If you're considering any sort of facial rejuvenation, I highly recommend consulting with Dr. Hoenig. When it comes to your face, it's worth it to go to the best of the best, in my opinion.
