My Emsculpt experience
I did not have the same experience as so many others and I wanted to share what I learned. At 68, I am reasonably fit and strong (lift weights, do hot yoga, still working running a small business) and a mostly healthy life style ( 5'5' 148# 39-30-39) and I decided to try emsculpt to help strengthen my abs and possibly lift my buttocks (my dream is getting back to the bum I had in the 70's but that is simply a dream). I choose both treatments to happen concurrently -4 sessions over two weeks. I found the first session to be very painful and almost unbearable. Each area session is approximately 30 minutes with 5-6 periods of intense electric simulation (ES) followed by a series of deep tapping/thumping (DT) to the muscle group. The ES was unlike anything I have experienced making my entire body uncontrollably tense up. The only thing that made it tolerable was deep breathing and exhaling during the ES. The DT was also very uncomfortable and I had to work hard at relaxing everything during he DT. The DT is needed to help disburse any lactic acid build-up in the treated muscle. I also made the terrible mistake of having a hot latte just before the procedure. I learned later that coffee makes the body more sensitive to pain so I did not do that again. Also, no food in the tummy is better. I learned quickly and also added a pain pill taken 30 minutes before any subsequent procedures and it helped a lot. Became a bit easier each session but never was a walk in the park for me. Now, about results.: my abs are definitely stronger and more defined, buttocks have yet to show much difference. Now, at my age and stage there is a layer of fat on top of muscle but the fat definitely seems less thick and dense. My abs were more sore during my regular exercises between sessions, buttocks not so much. Overall, I recommend the procedure if you are reasonably in your expectations.
