Round 2 of Embrace
I completed the second round of Embrace, so far I'm quite pleased with my results. Again, I had no adverse reactions besides some mild itching. I also started Singulair to avoid CC last week, I'm taking it daily along with my allergy pill. During removal, I used coconut oil and medical adhesive wipes, although I wasn't in the shower, removal effortless. Looking forward to continued improvement.
Embrace Active Scar Defense System on Lollipop Lift
Embrace Active Scar Defense is a medical grade silicone sheet, which uses tension to protect and stabilize the scar site from the stress of daily movements; it is worn for 8 weeks at 10 day increments with a 12-24-hour break between applications. For newly formed scars, Embrace Active Scar Defense can be applied up to 6 months’ post-surgery. If my results are satisfactory, I plan to use this system for 16 weeks; this review will document my journey.
Once I reached 8WPO BL and BA, I was FINALLY ready to start my Embrace journey. As mentioned in my previous Biocorneum review, although, I’d ordered Embrace long before being cleared for scar therapy, a mixture of late scabbing and vacationing lead me to use Biocorneum during the initial 4-weeks of scar therapy.
I applied Embrace about an hour before I went to bed (instructions advise 2 hours before bedtime), however I incurred no issues doing it this way. By then, I had watched numerous videos on application and removal…yet I was super nervous (there was a combined fear of ruining a very expensive silicone sheet and the irritation people commonly complained of). Once I worked up the nerve, everything went without a hitch. I even followed the advice of a veteran Selfer by applying Aquaphor to my nipples and taking Claritin 24hr non-drowsy allergy pill each night (besides occasional mild itching, I had no issues). The strips are high quality and certainly worth the money spent, with the aid of Tegaderm I was able waterproof the strips for use of the recommended 10-day period.
Removal was fairly easy, I simply used soap, water and patience LOL. My scars were noticeably softened, flatter and the bruising from my BL is much improved. So far, I am pleased with my results and look forward continued improvement.
