I've had these "saddlebags" or "side butts" as my friends endearingly call them since I hit puberty. Even when I weighed 85 pounds (I'm 5'2 and pretty petite overall) these babies persisted.
I learned how to dress around them and tried to find confidence within myself as many people have suggested. But only I knew I could never wear a bikini or a regular pair of pants ever. I always had to look for that skater dress or an a-line skirt to cover it up.
At 24, I had this wild idea that I should get a liposuction. Everyone that I shared this idea with shunned it somewhat and judged me for being vain. Hell, I'm a feminist myself who wants women to be more than just objectification of their bodies. I really struggled with this idea of body modification till my husband came along. One day we went to the mall and I tried on several pairs of pants for work which resulted in an episode of me turning into a Debbie downer since nothing fit over my saddlebags. My husband said, if it really bothers you that much, why don't you just get it removed. He just said in such a calm and laidback manner, it finally occurred to me that it was my struggle alone and had nothing to do with a feminist agenda. I decided I was going to go for it. After numerous interviews and boat load of online reviews, I decided to go with Dr. Markmann.
I had my surgery two days ago and stayed over night at the hospital since it was my first time going under general anesthesia. I'm now wearing a compression garment that I can't take off till my first post op visit on Tuesday. I have mild pain and didn't need to take any meds for it so far other than the oxy they gave me right after the surgery.
Although I haven't seen my actual post surgery shape yet, I can tell from compression garment that I don't have any side butts anymore. Will update more in the actual procedure and results after my Tuesday visit. Till then, I'll continue healing :)

Thanks for starting a review. I LOVE what you said about being a feminist and choosing to do something for yourself- I totally get where you are coming from and agree with your conclusions. Please keep us posted on your healing- we'd love to see some progress pics too.
