Buyer Beware, Generic (Careprost) Counterfeit

WORTH IT$25
I've been using latisse for several years and LOVE it but hate the price, so I decided to try generic. I googled it and found warnings about using credit cards on foreign web pages because there had been some security issues. Since eBay uses PayPal, I decided to order it that way. I ordered 2 bottles for $25 and I received them in a couple days. The bottles were boxed and sealed and nothing looked out of the ordinary. After about 2 weeks or so, I realized that the product wasn't working. I looked online and found a couple references to fake or counterfeit careprost with examples of the difference in packaging but not much. The warnings of counterfeit product with picture of the difference between the two was coming from a Canadian distributer, so I took a chance and ordered it from them. I received the product about 5 days later and I'm happy to report it is working as advertised. Yay!! There are definitely packaging differences between the real product and the counterfeit. Some differences were the same as what was shown on the Canadian company's web page, but some were different. I'll attach some picture. Once difference that you won't be able to tell from the pictures is the box of the counterfeit product was actually thicker and of higher quality. The Canadian web page said the opposite was true in their examples.

I hear you. I got Counterfeit Careprost from a knock off website too - I buy now from a ' Canadian ' site ( not Canada - fake site & Careprost I think) with amazing results. I avoid Amazon & eBay because it's not allowed as a listing due to the Bimatoprost ingredient so the listing can be removed at any time & who knows if we have recourse if it is. Good post :)

Thanks! Yes, As soon as I realized it was fake, I looked up the seller on eBay and they had already been removed from the site. I read his reviews and there were several complaints of all kinds of fake products. It never occurred to me to read the reviews before hand. Lesson learned!!
September 26, 2016
I think I may have bought a fake. I have been the product for 8 weeks and can't tell much of a difference in growth. How long did you use the authentic product before you saw noticeable results? Thanks!

At just under 2 weeks I could definitely tell that my lashes where starting to grow back. If you haven't seen any change in 8 weeks, I think it is probably fake. Is the eye dropper part of the bottle clear? That is what I saw reported as fake online and mine was also. Where did you buy yours from?
September 28, 2016
The eye dropper on mine is clear. I bought mine on Poshmark. Boo. I'm so disappointed. Where did you buy yours? Or how can I tell if the seller is authentic? What is a fair price for the real stuff?

It is really frustrating.. I'm sure even more waiting so long for results.. I don't know how to tell legit suppliers from fake. I saw the Canadian supplier mentioned in many threads as their source so I took a chance and went for it. You will see references online that there is an imposter Canadian web page uses Canada in the web address instead of Canadian or vice versa I can't remember but I don't think it matters anymore. I think the legit company took over both. If you put in lashoutloudcanada or Canadiancareprost it reroutes to the same page. You can get 1 for $30 or 3 for $80. I don't remember how much the shipping was. Hopes this helps. Best of luck!!

Yes, waiting for 8 weeks with no results was frustrating! I am a bit worried about what I was actually putting in my eyelids and brows for the past 8 weeks.
Thank you for your help and referrals. I took a peek at the lashoutloud site and will see what they are about. Have you tried any of the other bimataprost products that they sell? I thought I read that the newer version of Careprost is Lash4i, but I am not sure what the difference is.
Thanks!

I haven't tried any of the other products. I googled them and didn't find any info about them on other pages so I'm not sure what to think of it. It made me question the legitimacy of the web page a little but since so many blogs said they bought it from there, I took the chance.

Actually there are other web pages out there selling it, I just couldn't find any other information on it.
September 30, 2016
Can you provide the website link to the legit product? I too bought a fake version.

You can go to lashoutloudcanada or canadiancareprost and it will take you to the same web page.
October 1, 2016
Oh gosh I think I bought fakes too, all three of them from eBay. I am very reluctant making any purchases in foreign countries because I too heard of fraudulent charges to your card some months later. Mine has clear tips too and I'm in my 2 1/2 weeks of uses and yet to have noticed any changes. I should have known better. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Sorry to hear it happened to you too... I was surprised how little information there was about this on the web. Some people mentioned using the visa prepaid gift cards.. you migh try that.

Your post helped me catch it in time to file a claim and to request a full refund. The seller is no longer a registered member, but I can escalate the case since I am still in the buyer protection time frame. It will be kinda hilarious if we both purchased it from the same seller. The counterfeit one you provided in the photo is exactly what I have now. Also, I would like to thank you for providing information on where you ordered your authentic ones recently, I did some research on my own, went ahead and purchased three from them. I already received a tracking number so hopefully this the place where I will continue to make my future purchases. I am so grateful for your post!

Oh that's awesome. I'm glad I could help. I didn't use mine right away so by the time I figured it out it was passed the 30 days. They said I could still try to get a refund from PayPal, but I decided it wasn't worth the extra hassle. Best of luck with the real deal!!

I've ordered from All Day Chemist for years. Good product.
October 10, 2016
Hi Meg,
Is this product authentic that you are getting from all day chemist?
I ordered fillers from them in the past to find out they were horrible knock offs .
February 24, 2017
Fillers? What did you order?

Hi ladies, so what is the consensus?
Are you allowed to share which legitimate website you can buy this on, or can someone inbox me, because I have had to file way too many claims with knock offs and replicas with eBay and posh Mark and other websites thru the years with various items, mainly clothes and purses, and with three kids who has time to do that, and I would really like to pay less money getting this product than buying the expensive Latisse.
My doctor wants $180 for one month supply of Latisse!

Not sure why your doctor charges you for 180 for a month supply? You can get for 63 at latisse online.

If you got it super fast, I would question if they are even in China. I buy my kids toys online a lot and if it's from China it always takes quite a while... like 3 to 4 weeks usually. I never noticed mine shedding, they just when back to their original length. Best of luck.. hopefully it keeps working for you.
November 15, 2016
Hi how long does it take to work? I checked ur pics and mine looks real according to your legit pics. But first time I've used anything for eye lashes to grow like these, and it's been about six weeks now and no results I can see?
November 16, 2016
@afnav. Not super fast, but fast for China(8-10 days).Epacket marked China. When lashes go back to normal, the longer ones have shed.We are losing eyelashes all the time, just don't notice. The "knockoff" bottles, filled fuller, than last batch(real, and fake) Went way over month,Box says to discard after 30 days, so tossed around 36 days,to be safe. using 2-3 drops a time.Still have my longer spiky lashes.Have been using a month and a 1/2 now. So def they are working. But I think slightly less, (color, and thickness) compared to real.I know they are knockoffs, though, because of slight stinging,if use too much. absent from previous batches.

I noticed some initial growth after just a couple weeks but after that they seemed to stay the same for quite a while to the point I was starting to get concerned. I'm at about 9.5 weeks now just within the last week or so I'm finally starting to see a big difference. In the past I always used latisse brand. I don't have and pictures to really compare it to but going from memory I think the latisse may have made them longer than the careprost but the careprost is making them fuller than the latisse. My bottom lashes are few and far between. The latisse did improve the lower, but I'm seeing a lot more new growth on the bottom with the careprost... I would hang in there a couple more weeks at least. Where did you buy it from?

It put my reply to you in a weird place but it's the post from nov 17 if you are interested.
November 18, 2016
Thank you! I'm about 6 weeks now using it and they're a tiny bit longer so hopefully soon. I got it from United pharmacies I'm in the U.K. Where did you get yours from?
November 19, 2016
DHgate.com, lots of sellers, but I got from 888trading, like around 2.50 a bottle, and free ship, crazy. If you use too much. slight stinging, so I just blot. No other adverse reactions. Ive used contaminated bottles before, that Ive had to throw out,(my fault, till I learned to wash brushes w alcohol, after applying. every time.) they caused, redness, styes, itching. Nothing like that with these batches.
November 19, 2016
DHgate.com, from 888trading, was the seller.around $2.50 a bottle ,if buying 5 at a time. free ship

sorry for duplicate, didn't post at first.

Hi mbeckhhp,
I ve been using MY Lash (lumigan) which is the lattisse generic also but paid over the top premium of $200AU :( I'm coming up to 8 weeks in & am noticing some fullness & growth but have been told it will take the full 12 weeks to get to optimum density & length before I can really start cutting back on daily use. My bottle $200 bottle is nearly empty & I am wanting to try the carprost at that price!!! Thank you for posting this as I have heard different opinions on the carports & was a bit weary of ordering.
So, you are DEFINITELY happy with the stock you received via thru the seller 888Trading via DH gate ????
November 19, 2016
Wow! well theres all kinds of generic careprost, out there.I posted wrong, sorry. It should be trading888.(on DHgate.com)Theres favorable reviews,on there also, from other buyers. To me, it was definitely comparable to the (now I know) knockoffs I bought off eBay. But can't remember now if the "real" carprost was any better.I know you get a lot more,(with current knockoffs) bottle filled all the way up. Lashes still much longer, than my natural, before very sparse, and blonde, I use for eyebrows, too, but color those. So I'm going to finish these 5 bottles I purchased. And maybe next time, when Im out, do another order from alldaychemist. and compare. Then I'll get back to here, and let you know. But into my second bottle now, and still have lashes, and eyebrows. But they do seem a little sparser, than when I very first started with the carprost.but not by much.

I bought mine from lashoutloudcanada and would recommend buying from them. I saw more blogs about buying from them than anywhere else and I believe the product to be 100% legit.
November 12, 2016
I'm not sure why the doctor is charging 180 for one month supply. You can get it at latisse online for 63.

Ordering careprost

I'm happy to report that the same day that I provided the PIN number to Plooto, the correct amount was deducted from my checking account and I received confirmation that my order had been shipped. It was $99.98 with shipping for 3 bottles of 3ml Careprost. I was on my last bottle so I'm very relieved. I didn't want to have to start forking out the big bucks for latisse again.

Help?! i am desperately looking to order Careprost. I used to get it from Lash4i - website is now gone. I ordered from Lashoutloud last June. Ugh! The product came from China, and was no better than water. I can't find another site that simply accepts credit card. They all wznt bitcoin or some weird transfer I don't trust. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
September 30, 2017
Hi... I've ordered from Be Naturally Lashed and had great results. But you can't use credit cards with them. I dont think you can use credit cards with any legit lash serum sellers. Sorry you got a bad product.

Thank you. I just ordered (and quickly received) Royal Lash from Royal Cosmetics. They no longer sell Careprost. We'll see...

Good Luck. Let me know how it works for you. I wonder if they just rebottled Careprost?

That's who I've been ordering from since August 2016. It works great. Same as latisse. I noticed a little change after just a week or two but it took 8 to 10 weeks before I started seeing a drastic difference. it's been great ever since.

Careprost can be purchased from legitimate sources. I placed an order and received package 8 days. I carefully researched the sources, but did NOT research the side affects from using Latisse & Careprost. Fact: I do not want sunken eyes, darkened iris, etc. the side affects can be irreversible!
WARNING irrversible - No thanks! Not worth longer, thicker eyelashes. I am discarding the 3 bottles! Vanity can come with a very high price, even when the product is 85% less than USA retail.

Agree 100%. Just google Bimatoprost and fat atrophy and look at the pictures of the side effects, which are permanent. It's ugly. Exposure to prostaglandin affects the fat cells' metabolism, causing them to shrink. The shrinkage of the fat cells surrounding the eye causes enophthalmos—the eye becomes more sunken-in. The result is a deepening of the superior eye lid sulcus, while periorbital fat tissue seems to melt away. The cosmetic change—once you know to look for it—is actually quite obvious, and very aging.

It's amazing that Latisse is still being sold. People should be aware of the profound side effects, since it is sold as a beauty product.
