WORTH IT
Through out my life I've had various little things done. At 25 I got botox and loved it. Did it a few times. Then I wanted my NL lines filled in. I went with fat injections but, the Dr suggested I added fat to cheeks and lips as well as NL folds. I loved the look but didn't know too much what I was dealing with so I didn't realize could take 6 months to see final results and instead was bummed thinking it all went away. A yr later I noticed I needed a little something under eyes. Idk if it was just the natural aging process or if the fat in cheeks caused it but, I went to a different Dr and had restylane injected under eyes and in NL folds. Loved it. Highly recommended it and it lasted a long time. I think I looked great through out the years but these last 3 years have been hard. I had 2 babies and went through hell with their dad . Now at 34 i want to get these last 3 years back lol. My face lost a lot of weight and my cheeks are hollow. I hate it. I was hoping to do voluma voluma but as a gift I was told to go with fat and I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm hoping to get the cheeks, NL folds, under eyes filled. my procedure is scheduled for 4/13/16. I'm excited but nervous. I will post before and afters.

Please post pictures! I'm contemplating this procedure, but I'm terrified to ruin my face!

I absolutely will. I had it done years ago and I loved how I looked but this is a different doctor and I honestly didn't need it done back when I was 25 lol I look back like why did I touch my face. I trust Dr miller. He did my brothers nose beautifully.

Also what did you want fat injection for? Like what part of face? My 1 side is very sunk do to losing teeth in back and a drastic amount of weight .that was main concern but my restylane under the eyes is now gone and tear troughs need to be filled

I'm 35 and I feel like I'm looking old. I want fat under my eyes, cheeks and smile lines.

YES PLEASE. I am scheduled for May 19 and am freaked! Thank you for your posts!!!

I would love to see your results as well. I have a pre-op consult scheduled in a week for fat grafting in my face. I am 65 but most people think I am 20 years younger. While my skin and face may be better than some, I have lost volume in the cheeks, temples, eyes and lower face. It is scary especially since I am going to be "mother of the bride" in a few months. I am praying I will love the results! My procedure is in 3 weeks.

So Far I'm very happy. I know it doesn't all stay but I go back in 2 months for touch up. Hope it all works out.

I will be getting fat injections soon and am concerned with the fat not staying, especially in certain areas of my face. Did your's go away in 6 months? Were certain areas worse/better for fat loss or uneveness?

I think mine was well there over 6 months but it's hard because I was also a lot younger and looking back I didn't need the cheeks or lips lol so anything was a bonus. I Def had no lumps or unevenness. The thing with fat is a lot of Dr's will save fat for later date to reinject and correct any areas that need more. This Dr doesn't like to over fill he did a fair amount today andI come back in 3 months. This is so hard lol what area are u looking to fill? I can tell u the lips and nl folds don't last long. At least for me anyway
April 14, 2016
under eyes and nl folds. One side of my face had all the fat "melt" away almost instantly from what I think was a reaction to HQ or some topical. The other side, which was always a little fuller, was damaged less. I was surprised that the dr said I would be bruised for 2 weeks after. Did you also have any issue with broken capillaries?

Hello, the fat transfer must last 10+ years if the doctor performed the procedure correctly. I am also looking to get this done and currently researching the doctor. I found a fat transfer specialist in NC and I think he may be the one...
October 16, 2016
If the transferred fat finds a blood supply it will age with the portion of the body it was taken from and not (the face) as it has been reported. Transferred fat retains the metabolism of the body area it was taken from. If you took the fat from your belly and yout belly grew so will the fat in the face that was taken from the belly. If in later years your belly fat begins to sag so will the facial fat that was taken from the belly. If the fat taken from a particular area is denser than that of facial fat it will cause your face to sag due to the weight of it in later years. Typically though according to my research fat only lasts 2 - 5 years if youre lucky. Only a handful of people on here have seen it last longer. Anyone who charges more than 2500-3200 in the U.S. for a fat transfer and says their fat transfer lasts is unethical in my opinion. Every surgeon outside the U.S. states the results are unpredictable and to receive a semi-permanent result it can take 2 or more fat transfers. If it doesnt last and too much was put in then your skin tissue stretches and it when it goes back down it may sag and not bounce back. Other issues inlcude lumps / areas of necrosis. All of this must be considered prior to getting a fat transfer. Many people look for instant gratification and initially they'll get it with this procedure but than 1+ years down the line they end up regretting it. Remember the problems you experience with fat transfer may not show up until years later and that includes lumping. I just hope people do their research and know the risks prior to committing to this procedure.

Interesting, where did you get this info? I would like to have it an presented to the doc of my choice. I think fillers are the instant gratification and cost so much for what they are. To buy fillers directly form the supply website cost about $200 for 2cc of JUVEDERM, for example, but they sell in every single country in the world except for the US because prices are gauged here. Here one is charged 1k for 1cc and I would need 2cc for my issue and it would only last a couple of months. My friend had fat transfer in Korea and it has been 10 years and she looks amazing. I would rather pay more for longer results, even if it's just 5 years. I had Restyliane and Juvederm, paid 1k each time for results that lasted 3 months :( if you say the fat transfer is not a good option, what do you think about cheek implants? I don't want to look cartoonist buy have terrible fat loss in my cheeks

I've been researching fat transfer for over 3 years now because im considering doing it. This is all the info ive accumulated from reputable surgeons like Dr. Brandow, case studies, etc... All of this information is readily available via google. You can find case studies on fat transfer with regards to fat metabolism, fat retention rate, necrosis, etc... You can also look at the various reviews on here. I would however caution that if the reviewer on here only has 1 post id be apprehensive about trusting it.

Your friend was very lucky btw. She is one of the few that has had it last for 10 years. Interesting thing about Korea though as I was considering getting mine done there as well. They only charge upwards of $2500 for full face fat transfer and they include PRP for free with that. It's actually cheaper to fly to Korea or Sweden to get it done even with plane and hotel costs than it is to get it done here.
October 16, 2016
Thanks. I private messaged you too:) I will use those key words when I Google. I was just looking for how long it lasts and that if done properly it lasts 10+ years. So what do you think you're going to do. I found a great doc, check out your inbox
October 16, 2016
I've been considering KOREA for over a year now but just worried about the language barrier and the cost of everything adding up. Would you be considering partnering up and going together? A friend say she will go but she's not serious about it.
October 16, 2016
Well im still doing research with regards to Korea. One place I was considering is fresh run by Dr. Jong-Hyun Hong. He has some good before and after photos. My only hesitation is he's a cosmetic surgeon and not a plastic surgeon. I suppose though that shouldn't stop me as fat transfer was pretty much pioneered in Korea and even a cosmetic surgeon trained there is most likely better at administering than any plastic surgeon here. Regardless, fat transfer remains a unpredictable procedure. Where did your friend have her fat placed and which areas was the fat taken from? Oh and why not go to the same surgeon she did in Korea?
October 16, 2016
My friend told me about this a while ago when I was not interested but I will ask her. I think she also had a rhinoplasty even though she denies It. I sent you a private message:)
October 16, 2016
Yeah I got your private message and replied back.

Looks great. How much did it cost and how much do u have to pay for a touch up? Does the Dr keep fat from first session or have to reharvest each time?
User Avatar

Hi ,thank you :) it's 3200. That included the touch up injections. The fat is frozen for future use

Thank you for posting, I'm having this procedure done in June and started to chicken out. After seeing your post I am sure to go ahead with it. Does your doctor call it fat transfer or fat grafting. I believe there is a difference, although not sure what, and that fat grafting lasts longer.

In your opinion, would you recommend fat injections for nl folds or go with fat transfer? I recently had filler and it made lines look worse.
