WORTH IT$5,000
Since Realself was helpful for me when I was debating whether or not to get surgery I will give my experience. To be blunt, if you already have an attractive or normal looking nose but want some small improvement than my story will have not relevance to you. After puberty my nose grew big, very big, big enough to make me self conscious everywhere I went.

Tired of having it hold me back I looked into Rhinoplasty and found Dr. Andrew Miller. Dr. Miller impressed me right away with his experience with not just rhinoplasties but with Men's noses and noses of my size. Dr. Miller had a very realistic goal which I appreciated. I didn't go in thinking I would come out a male model, I just wanted to look normal or "good". In truth I didn't think my nose could be changed as much as he suggested. I also had a deviated septum so Dr. Miller said that he would fix that together which I figured would complicate things but it seemed routine to him. All of my questions and concerns where answers and I made the decision to have the surgery.

The surgery itself was the easiest part of this journey. show up, get knocked out, wake up with bandages, it's all that simple and goes by very quickly. I was told that I would need a whole week off to rest and recover. That afternoon probably because of the drugs I didn't feel anything at all and just sat around talking with my father about politics and stuff. The next day it all hit me hard, pain, discomfort, and bleeding were quite prevalent for the next 2-3 days. After those first couple of days though it got much easier and turned into a simple waiting game to get my bandages off.

Because the nature of my surgery was to reduce the size of my nose when I got my bandages off there was a lot of loose skin (the nose under the skin was smaller than it was before) and the tip of my nose was really high because the bandages where propping it up in that angle. That feeling of the skin was really odd and how it looked was definitely scary, You look in the mirror and you worry that that's the final product. Dr. Miller didn't even flinch and just told me the the skin would contract onto my new nose, the tip would drop, and swelling would go down, again I trusted him and of course he was right. It took about a a week and a half for the skin to tighten up while the tip maybe took closer to a month to drop. I would say that about 3 months after the surgery my nose started to look closer to where it would end up being.

It's been 8 months now since the surgery and I couldn't be any happier. I can honestly say I feel like a new man who has been given a second chance at life. If you are in the same boat that I was then believe me that rhinoplasty is worth it.
