I decided to give Kybella a try after months of rescheduling the procedure out of concern regarding how it would feel post procedure. I am a bruiser and a sweller so I knew this was going to be a challenge. That was an understatement. Why I decided to have the procedure 10 days before Christmas I will never know, but after weeks of significant discomfort , I think I am starting to see results.
The procedure itself was not comfortable. I immediately felt a burning sensation despite 6 lidocaine shots and ice prior to the 24 Kybella injections. The pain level was intense for 4 hours post procedure (a 9 out of 10) and I was surprised at the level of pain.
The next morning, after ice, ibuprofen, arnica, and vitamin k cream, the pain and bruising were significant and lasted for about 12 days. I used ice, arnica, and vitamin k cream daily for three weeks. I also remained on a steady dose of ibuprofen. What I have learned is this - do not do this procedure if you have a pain syndrome like fibromyalgia, because if you do, like me, recovery is much worse than your average person.
I am now 4 weeks post procedure and the area is still quite tender. The results so far are positive. I see a more defined jawline, and the pocket of fat under my chin is going away! It will likely be a least another month or so to see the full result, which will have to suffice because I can't face any additional Kybella treatments.
