I have had consultations with 4 or 5 different plastic surgeons in NJ and they all suggested Brachioplasty for my arms. I will be having Brachioplasty and flank/abdominal liposuction done December 10th with Dr. Tushar Patel. I felt comfortable with him and he came highly recommended by my bariatric surgeon. He was also a top doctor for 2014 I think. So... my highest weight was about 210 but I am 5'3". I had VSG one year ago and lost 55-60 pounds. My arms and abdomen have much loose skin, but there are still a few stubborn areas of fat that I want removed. They also recommended
(not a TT) a skin only removal of the loose abdominal skin. I chose NOT to have skin only abdominoplasty. I just want a smoother stomach. If you notice in my pictures, above my belly button, it kind of protrudes more than the rest of my stomach. I just want him to smooth out that area and also to get rid of the love handles. He said I will have loose skin no matter what because of the weight loss, which I am fine with because I never expose my belly anyway. I just hope my stomach will get a better overall shape so I don't have muffin top in jeans or a visible roll with all the shirts I wear. I am very nervous, more about my arms though. Wish me luck! I will post again after my procedure.

I would lose weight before getting an arm lift ! The scarring is horrible!

I expect the scars. It's a trade off. I rather have a scar than hanging skin. I did loose weight. I went from 210 to 145. im happy with my weight now.

As you are only 28 years old, there's a good chance your youthful skin may hide most any loose skin. They said the same thing to a client of mine; however, with proper diet and exercise, his stomach shows no signs of sagging. He lost 125 lbs yet his body is tight and fit. It took a year to loose the weight and one year of weight traing and proper diet to firm up. Dan is now 30 years old and in the best condition of his life. I hear good things about Dr. Patel. You're in good hands! I wish you all the best! George

Day 1 post op

Liposuction on my abdomen/flanks hurts more than the brachioplasty. The abdomen pain is just a burning sensation. The arms I only have pain in the armpit. That pain is also a burning feeling, but it is bearable. I thought I would be in a lot more pain than I am.
I just had my day 1 follow up and I can see that I am very swollen, but I see how much smaller my arms and belly look already. No regrets as of yet. I'm very happy I chose Dr. Tushar Patel. He is very kind and informative.

OUTSTANDING! He's an excellent surgeon... :)

If Dr. Patel agrees, please try Omega-3 (as long as you have no contra-indications). Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation improves surgical recovery. It helps reduce inflammation which promotes healing... Make sure it's pure Omega-3 from Natural sources due to absorption. No more than 2-3 grams per day. Within 72 hours, you'll notice a difference. GOOD LUCK!

Hard to move around today. Had to sleep on my back again which I really hate. I'm so sore. My arms really don't hurt as much as my belly, but they do burn and feel swollen. My belly burns pretty bad. I have some huge hips and major bruising right...so swollen. I hope that is normal. I have not removed the abdominal binder or arm sleeves yet. I hope the swelling goes down and I get better soon because this is kind of miserable. I'll post pics once the bruises fade a little. Right now it is pretty bad.

Congratulations & thanks for sharing. I too had a Brachioplasty last December. Be patient with your self and when your feeling uncomfortable keep in mind how great you'll look & feel come this spring.

a good 6 weeks. 10 before I could start lifting light weights again. I massage bio oil on the scars once a day which has really helped the redness.
