My dream ears - they look fabulous and no longer protrude

As a young child, I was made fun of by other kids because my ears stuck out. Begging and pleading with my parents to have them surgically corrected was a frequent discussion. My parents would not agree to elective surgery, thus, I never wore my hair in a ponytail, as other little girls do. Even with my hair down, my ears would pop through my hair. Having my ears “pinned” was something I had always dreamed of doing. Well into adulthood, I was still haunted by the years of bullying and not feeling confident due to my protruding ears.

A search led me to Dr. Jill Hessler in Palo Alto, California. Upon review of Bay Area Surgeons, I quickly found that Dr. Hessler is not only double board certified in facial plastic surgeries, but she is also an award-winning surgeon in her field. I also loved that she was female! I set up a consultation with her to discuss my ear goals. Upon meeting Dr. Hessler I found her to be warm, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and confident. Dr. Hessler examined my ears and stated I would be a great candidate for otoplasty. She took the time to explain to me thoroughly what this surgery would entail, as well as what to expect regarding healing time. As she was explaining the procedure, I found myself becoming more and more excited, as it seemed that me lifelong dream to surgically correct my ears was within reach. I booked my surgery that same day!

The otoplasty procedure went very smoothly. I had minimal swelling to my ears, as was expected. I had mild pain only, just a little tender. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy my healing was! Today, I am happily and proudly wearing my hair up! My ears look fabulous and no longer protrude. I am forever grateful to Dr. Hessler for making my childhood dream a reality.
