After the first treatment (seeing results)
In hindsight, I might not have bought the "buy four, get one free" package (5 total). I think I'd recommend to anyone going to get laser hair removal to consider having even JUST ONE session with whomever you choose before purchasing a package. If I had done that and still really wanted to buy the whole package I'd only have committed to six total, and that's probably how many I'd need overall anyway. I'm having some regrets because DURING my first treatment the technician, Sarah, told me they are "expanding" and I'd have to go to one of their other four locations for my remaining four treatments. That's only entirely inconvenient because I'll have to drive TWICE as far! Like, a half hour (one way) versus 15 minutes. And I didn't mention this before because it's had to "settle" in, what they're asking me to do, and I'm not sure I understand why. And it seems like I'm always on their schedule when their website touts the convenience of their hours, etc, but my days off are very specific (2 weekdays, mind you) but in the beginning it was like, "oh, you have Mondays and Tuesdays off? That's not going to work cuz we only do laser hair removal on Wednesdays and Fridays..." So I made special arrangements to be their on a Wednesday for my first treatment and then they were like, "oh, now we're only doing it Tuesday's and (some other day...) but only at this totally remote location..." Ok, so I'm not quoting exactly, but it definitely feels like I paid $1800 up front to be on their schedule - not a good way to feel. I have been seeing some results from my first treatment though! It's a tad patchy, but I can see it. I'll need to stop shaving for the next week to take some pix or maybe I'll just update pix after the second treatment. I DID call back to get some numbing cream for next time, they just called it in to my pharmacy and said I'll need to put it on ~an hour before my appt, leave it on, wrap it with Saran Wrap, and they'll/ I'll be able to take it off once I get there. (Sounds NUTS to me) Like how am I supposed to put a cream all over my "bikini area" - Saran Wrap it - and drive somewhere? I'm gonna have to do my best impression of Houdini! Geez. Anyway, the pain wasn't worth it last time, I didn't tolerate it well so I'll try whatever.
Note: my hairs that did fall out did so like exactly 6-7 days after the treatment. Many of my pubic area ones I would just tug on and they would come right out (those that didn't are obviously not "removed" yet).

~2 hours after 1st treatment
I didn't have any problems haggling with the technician over hairs - something I had been concerned with but she had no problems doing all area(s) in the bikini I had expected and discussed with her previously. I was relieved, and I do really think this is a nice dermatology center so I don't know why I thought I'd have issues. But it did hurt more than I thought it would. I would discribe it like being snapped with a rubber band, like on each hair. And I thought I had a higher tolerance for pain b/c I've gotten a tattoo before and honestly didn't think that really hurt. But I guess this must be worse because it's like sending the laser down into the hair follicle and it radiates into the nerves (like up my arm or pubic area, as it were). Plus my tattoo wasn't in nearly so sensitive areas (as my underarms or bikini line). And no one had ever mentioned this to me before but you can smell the hair burning! It was so weird, I just didn't expect it. It was bearable (at least I wasn't going to wuss out). Although she did say if I need it I could have a numbing cream I would need to apply an hour beforehand next time, and I may request that. I hope it doesn't get WORSE/more painful with each visit cuz I have four to go (but I've heard it does, so...) Bring on the numbing cream! She said I will have some redness and may possibly blister or scab. I am prone to blistering when I get bad sunburns but since I'm just red and a little puffy right now it's hard to say how bad it'll get. I'll update & let you know!
I've wanted to do laser hair removal for a while...
I've wanted to do laser hair removal for a while and decided to try it thru my dermatologist because they apparently use one of the better lasers. When I did my consultation I told them I wanted something kind of like a Brazilian, or maybe in between a bikini and Brazilian. I was talking with the technician and the dermatologist at the time when I learned apparently the technician is the one who performs all laser hair removal treatments and she was like, "oh we don't really do Brazilians." And the dermatologist was like, "why not? It's in our brosure. Why not just take it all off while you're down there? If that's what she wants!" And I wanted to be like, "yeah, man makes a good point!" But I figured I'd talk it out with her. So after the dermatologist left the room the technician said they could put a package together for me since I wanted to do two areas and they had just recently ended any specials so she could offer 25% off of the actual total of $2400 (=$1800) She told me they don't do Brazilians b/c they can't apply their particular laser to membranous skin. I told her as long as they can do all of the "top" part and the "sides" as well as they can I'd be good (and I never had much interest in spreading my cheeks, so...) We'll see tomorrow if she resists about how much she'll really do. They only had me pay for a bikini so I hope that doesn't mean they'll want to argue/haggle over which hairs they'll do once they're down there. If that's the case I may be either offering to pay extra or asking for a refund (although I get the feeling that's a fat chance) and just going elsewhere eventually. By the way, I had originally gone to this dermatologist for a standard mole check when I decided I'd do the laser hair removal after seeing it on their website and doing some local research. Hopefully this will all turn out ok, the dermatologist said I was a perfect candidate considering my very fair skin and dark hair. I've got my first treatment tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know how it goes!
