Anticipating a new me… A gift for myself… I am just going for a lipoabdominoplasty in Dubai.

It was a tough decision to go ahead with all sorts of advices from family members and even doctors saying "After all it's a cosmetic procedure, but you are taking a risk of a surgery and that too an open one with the risks of anesthesia, swelling, clots and even death." I was frustrated, tensed and thought of my lovely kids all the time… and the agony continued for almost a year when finally I decided…"Do or die" although it seemed silly.

I was tired of people congratulating me for a baby every now and then and people just touching my tummy as if to say a hai to the baby and it became even more frustrating when the same people would ask me every time they see me (in a gap of 2-3 months) .And I felt pregnant all the year long and added to it was the lower back pain. I got more tired with people advising me on exercises/crunches and I did a lot of them sincerely for few months and gave up as I didn't find any improvement. I spend money on VLCC and many other slimming options in the city thus wasting a lot of money. Yes I did lost the bulges on the sides, the love handles but not the tummy. I then came to know that I have diastasis recti or muscle separation which was giving me this horrible look and it seemed doing the exercise in a wrong way had aggravated the situation. I tried binders which suffocated me and it just didn't helped. I tried holding my tummy in ...poor tummy it couldn't ...my kids would compare me to other sleek aunties and would advice me on being fit and they would occasionally tease me that I am having six pack…

Finally after long struggles with my husband who would say "I love you as u are" I urged him to visit a plastic surgeon who was doing a special type of tummy tuck called lipoabdominoplasty and that too with out drains. He had added many new innovations to this technique and my conscience said this is the doctor for me. Now I fully trust God for helping me in the decision and also I fully trust my doctor too. Waiting for the D day...

The above was written before sugery...

Two weeks back, the day of surgery finally came. The travel to the hospital (Dubai London Hospital, Jumairah) was emotional. The surgery went well and the first day was quite ok.the doctor had given a pain catheter or so... The second day was the peak of the pain and from day 2 things improved each day.The first discomfort was wearing the tight compression garment which resolved after changing to a new one. The second day Dr.Mohan came to see me, he urged me and guided and helped me to walk. For fear of pain I had thought not to move but he assured me that I will be alright and I have to move often to prevent other problems.

The day from hospital to home, I was afraid that at hospital we had that super bed which could tilt the head & mid portions and what we will do at home? But we could make a good nest with lots of pillows and one pillow beneath the legs and I was fine. Two three days I needed help to get up from bed as well in bathing. And I felt a greater bond towards my husband who had given loving support and he had took off from work to be with me during the much needed days.

The second discomfort was sleeping straight, not turning on sides.By day 6 I could lie on the sides and as I said as there were no drains there was not much discomfort. Two weeks passed. I have quite improved and can do most of the household activities. And am planning to go back to work on sunday.

I am happy with the results, my flabby wobbly stomach is gone. The new umbilicus is still healing and I feel fabulous.

To be beautiful you have to be bold and brave to go under the knife...

Dr.Mohan is an experienced doctor especially in the field of lipoabdominoplasty. I came to know of him while doing research in internet. He is a board certified surgeon and a real professional. He answered to all my queries and I got quick responses to my emails as well.He explained the procedure and the possible complications and assured that in his surgery's complications were very low. This was one of the article which explained the surgery in whole http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2825137/ . Also his site http://www.plasticsurgeryworks.com/ gives more insight which might be heplful to people in UAE.
