How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

As a mom, wife, teacher and friend I tend to put...

As a mom, wife, teacher and friend I tend to put all others before myself. This process was for ME. It's intended purpose was to help me feel better about myself, help me gain back the strength I had lost after diasitis recti, and giving back the confidence I once had. Now I am going to do something for you... I am going to tell you all about the good, the bad and ugly of the mommy makeover!
Before I start let me clarify: my mommy makeover consisted of a full tummy tuck, muscle repair, lipo of the abdomen and 339cc and 304cc of silicon breast implants (yea 2 sizes! I was lop sided!)
As of 7/23/15 I am 6 weeks post op.
The Good:
1. got some much needed time off work
2. My tummy is flat
3. My breasts are perky
4. I feel I am proportionate again (my boobs are symmetrical, and good sized for my body size)
5. My husband likes the new girls (boobs)
6. I like the new boobs
7 my shirts look a lot better
8. I am not disgusted by my reflection in the mirror
9. I am proud of my decision to do this

The bad:
1. I had to take 6-8 weeks off of work
2. The drains were terrible! They got caught on everything, they were uncomfortable and kind of gross
3. I couldn't play with my 4 year old for weeks
4. I still can't pick her up
5. Recovery is SLOW
6. I am almost always swollen somewhere
7. Standing up straight took 3 weeks
8. When I stretch I feel like I am ripping my stomach in half
9. I can't run for more than a mile, lifting weights, plank, push ups all still wilting for the ok-I LOVE to work out so this it hard for me!
10. My husband had to take over a lot of the house hold stuff and my kitchen paid the price :) (but he helped out so much)
The ugly:
1. It will take a few days before you poop, and it won't feel good. Ask your dr about a mild laxative
2. The DRAINS suck! But the alternative is worse
3. The emotional roller coaster is very real.
4. People will judge you- forget them!!
5. Your body will be tight like something you've never felt. Skin tightness is awkward. Not so much painful as different or uncomfortable.

Words of advice:
1. take care of your self-eat well, work out, live healthy before you do it and recovery will be easier and you won't feel as bad when you are sedentary.
2. TAKE IT Easy! Your body will heal?, just give it TIME (my mantra)
3. Call your surgeon with questions or concerns! You already paid them-get your money's worth!
4. Ice packs are amazing!
5. Let people help you
6. Premake a few healthyi meals!
7. Take before pictures so you can compare your progress at home!
8. Journal about your experience.
9. You are beautiful no matter what...but you feeling it and believing it trumps all else!
10. Follow your doctors instructions!! You paid him to tell you what to do!
11. Wear your binder/compression gear!!

Dr. Johnson was professional and to the point. He told me what I needed to achieve the "ideals" I told him. I loved having him as my surgeon. I would highly recommend him for any of your needs.
