Excessively Loose Skin Under Eyes for a 43 Year Old Female - Draper, UT

I can't select multiple choices for the procedure...

WORTH IT$3,000
I can't select multiple choices for the procedure type and don't want to mislead anyone, but I had Botox, Juvaderm, and Voluma injected this past summer. The $3000 (approximate) represents two visits that included Botox, Juvaderm, and Voluma as well as a small, experimental peel on a sun spot.
I was seriously considering a fat transfer to my face and/or a peel for incredibly loose skin under my eyes and because I also have a very thin face. But then decided in a spur-of-the-moment decision to see if the Voluma would show how a fat transfer could look -- without the long downtime. I was surprised at the instant effects!!! But it still didn't address the really crepey, loose skin as much as I had hoped, so went back for second round a month later because it didn't seem like $1000 (approximate) worth of product under my eyes. At this stage, it wasn't really worth it.
The second time around we added some Juvederm to the mix because it was on special. WOW! For someone with my issues (loose skin under eyes and super thin face), the combo treatment really did wonders, plus it gives me an idea of how a fat transfer will look if I go that route in the future. Note though: It's amazingly effective, but it doesn't completely cure the issues. It plumps out the cheeks to make the skin more taut, but it's not perfect -- just wanted to make sure anyone who reads this understands that perfection isn't possible at this stage.
I've also started using Botox this past year, which is something I NEVER thought I'd do. It's funny how that all changes, though, as the skin starts to deteriorate and age sets in.
Suffice it to say: I love the combo products but it's VERY expensive, and forking over so much money isn't sustainable on my budget. Granted, Voluma is supposed to last for awhile and there wasn't any down time, but really -- who has that kind of money to spend every few years?!?!?!

Photos of Botox around eyes and tear trough treatment with Juvederm and Voluma

I took the before and after shots in a way as to show how awful the skin is: right after waking up, looking down with gravity pulling, and with bright sunlight. I wanted to show how it's not perfect but with makeup on, it's better and a fat transfer may be the end result after this wears off... Sigh... Vanity is so expensive. :)

Did they use Juvederm under the eye

Yes. And now it's a mixture of Juvederm, Voluma, and Botox under the eyes that does the trick for the most part. The Juvederm does end up getting a little lumpy at times but it's better than the saggy skin. I'm also sold on a tiny amount of Botox in the loose area. It softens it a bit.

My PS (plastic surgeon) uses a medical type device - it is similar to an electric nail dremmel with buffer attachment, if you will. Places it over a spread out washcloth of sorts, and smooths out ALL the area(s) under my eyes. Does this in order to avoid the lumpy look(s) post injections. it does the trick EVERY TIME!!!! NO lumps, bumps, et al...

Wow, looks great! I'm going in for a fat transfer to breast and hae considered adding the face as well (I'd save big bucks because I'm already paying for the lipo.) I also have lose skin under the eyes and a very thin, and beginning to droop face. Did you think the fillers made you look too "done." I too never thought I'd be heading down this road, but after nursing and mothering, I'm ready to look a little more fit again! But I definitely don't want to end up looking plastic...

Thank you! I worried about looking "too done" also, but after the first round, the difference was so subtle, I wanted more "bank for my buck" so to speak. Fortunately, Dr. Thompson is an artist and understood my concerns, so we didn't go overboard. At least, it doesn't seem like it. I really just want to look like others my age and I don't see anyone with this kind of loose skin. I also looked into a lower bleph but don't have enough fat for one. If I were to put on weight, that would help, but I'm a runner and it keeps me sane. Do you have any photos? Also make sure you go to lots and lots of board-certified surgeons before you make a decision. Their responses vary so much it can be confusing. And read reviews about them! Good luck with whatever you do and feel free to check back in if you decide to get it done. I'd love to see the outcome!!

I also had a problem with deep circles and cheek fillers seem to help that, Sculptra is my go too and it lasts 2 years. I had a fat transfer. Total WASTE OF $$! That too dissolves over time and I have a few lumpy nodules under my eyes I can feel on touch. A doctor told me it always dissolves so do not waste your $$. What may do the trick permanently is a lower eye lift! That was my solution but the surgeon left me with terrible scars on my eye corners so make sure you find out if that will be taken care of in the procedure. I had that 9 years ago and it held up so far so the cost of 3200 was worth it.

Thank you for the suggestion and feedback! Apparently I don't have enough fat for the lower bleph otherwise I'd get it in a heart beat. I'm sorry you were left with scars. Can other surgeon fix them?

I was going to suggest a lower blepharoplasty too. I didn't know you had to have a certain amount of fat there for that. Have you asked more then one surgeon about it? I had upper and lower done.... I now have fillers and Botox to upper cheeks/crows feet and my current ps thought I was 10 years younger than I am. If I hadn't had it all done I would have really deep and huge, hereditary eye bags. Perhaps worth u asking for a second opinion? You have beautiful eyes. :) [RS bleep]

Thanks for your comment, KewpieDoll! I've consulted with several PSs about the lower bleph. The ONLY one who recommended it was an ocular plastic surgeon. I don't know whether or not to trust him because three other "regular" PSs have said not to do it because I would look more haggard. It's very frustrating. Thank you for your sweet comment also. :)

Did you have a lot of Bruising and swelling, If so how long did the bruising and swelling last?
June 13, 2015
I seem to get bruising on one side of my face each time I get the Voluma injected. Not sure why because the other side of the face is fine. Makeup doesn't hide it all but it helps. I also get the Tyndall effect in the tear trough area. It seems like the bruising lasted about a month the first time. This time around, I'm not sure because I'm also dealing with a black eye from a horse riding injury and the injections are adding extra puffiness to an already bruised area.

I see. If they use Cannula as they inject and you use ICE right after it helps a lot. Also no aspirin, fish oil etc....for a few days BEFORE and after, but LOTS of Arnica pills and cream. :)
