Photos of Botox around eyes and tear trough treatment with Juvederm and Voluma
SOSwithSkinSeptember 20, 2014
I took the before and after shots in a way as to show how awful the skin is: right after waking up, looking down with gravity pulling, and with bright sunlight. I wanted to show how it's not perfect but with makeup on, it's better and a fat transfer may be the end result after this wears off... Sigh... Vanity is so expensive. :)

Did they use Juvederm under the eye
April 4, 2015
Yes. And now it's a mixture of Juvederm, Voluma, and Botox under the eyes that does the trick for the most part. The Juvederm does end up getting a little lumpy at times but it's better than the saggy skin. I'm also sold on a tiny amount of Botox in the loose area. It softens it a bit.

My PS (plastic surgeon) uses a medical type device - it is similar to an electric nail dremmel with buffer attachment, if you will. Places it over a spread out washcloth of sorts, and smooths out ALL the area(s) under my eyes. Does this in order to avoid the lumpy look(s) post injections. it does the trick EVERY TIME!!!! NO lumps, bumps, et al...

I can't select multiple choices for the procedure...

I can't select multiple choices for the procedure type and don't want to mislead anyone, but I had Botox, Juvaderm, and Voluma injected this past summer. The $3000 (approximate) represents two visits that included Botox, Juvaderm, and Voluma as well as a small, experimental peel on a sun spot.
I was seriously considering a fat transfer to my face and/or a peel for incredibly loose skin under my eyes and because I also have a very thin face. But then decided in a spur-of-the-moment decision to see if the Voluma would show how a fat transfer could look -- without the long downtime. I was surprised at the instant effects!!! But it still didn't address the really crepey, loose skin as much as I had hoped, so went back for second round a month later because it didn't seem like $1000 (approximate) worth of product under my eyes. At this stage, it wasn't really worth it.
The second time around we added some Juvederm to the mix because it was on special. WOW! For someone with my issues (loose skin under eyes and super thin face), the combo treatment really did wonders, plus it gives me an idea of how a fat transfer will look if I go that route in the future. Note though: It's amazingly effective, but it doesn't completely cure the issues. It plumps out the cheeks to make the skin more taut, but it's not perfect -- just wanted to make sure anyone who reads this understands that perfection isn't possible at this stage.
I've also started using Botox this past year, which is something I NEVER thought I'd do. It's funny how that all changes, though, as the skin starts to deteriorate and age sets in.
Suffice it to say: I love the combo products but it's VERY expensive, and forking over so much money isn't sustainable on my budget. Granted, Voluma is supposed to last for awhile and there wasn't any down time, but really -- who has that kind of money to spend every few years?!?!?!

Do NOT do fat undet the eyes. Nothing but problems in that area. I have researched this for years and even the best of the best occuloplastic surgeons are afraid to put fat there due to the thinnness of the skin. Research this carefully and I repeat, do not risk doing fat. Stick with Juvederm, Belotero or Restylane. I would even be afraid of Voluma due to the thickness but if it works for you, you are lucky. I have done all of the HA products under the eyes and have had the best luck with Restylane. I have had fat injected in my upper cheeks which I am happy with and I am glad that my PS talked me out of putting it under my eyes.

Thanks so much for your reply and feedback about the fat transfer. Any thoughts on a chemical peel? That's what I'm scheduled for next but I'm very concerned about it.

I have had a 35% tca peel twice now. I think it does help smooth the skin a bit but it takes weeks for the redness to go away. Nice result for us pale skinned people. I had it under my eyes and sort of feathered down which blended after it healed. Nothing dramatic but some improvement in texture. I had a lot of sun in my youth and this helped that crinkly area. No tightening though, just a little smoothing.

I missed this comment when you posted it awhile back. Thanks so much for your feedback. I back out each time I decide to do it, so hearing from you is helpful! Thank you!

i am interested in trying voluma---but it's really expensive. would you say that it has held up pretty well? i have done radiesse in the past, which i love, but in truth, it only lasts about 2 months. would you do the voluma again?? thank you! ;-)

It feels like my body metabolizes all of these products ridiculously quickly. I'm now using Voluma, Juvaderm, and Botox (even under the eyes) on a routine basis. They make big difference but it's expensive and sometimes the Juvaderm gets a little lumpy. (NEVER wear ski goggles by the way! LOL.. That was a disaster!) Unfortunately, I have zero fat for a fat transfer and my doc agrees that it wouldn't last because of my running. So options are limited. So to answer your question: I'd recommend trying it because it's so helpful. You'll definitely get more than 2 months out of it and many more if you metabolize this stuff at a slower rate.

i metabolize fillers quickly due to diet and exercise, too. we try to be healthy. . . and then we can't keep our fillers long enough! thanks for the reply. i appreciate it. :-)

You look amazing! I think you were very fortunate to have this done for less than $3k and get these results because it had to be an instant boost to your self esteem. And if you have to consider only follow-up injections in 2 yrs, you probably won't spend that much as I hear you need less of it over more time. All the best to you!

Thanks, Scrappy! It actually has been more than 3K. I've now added Juvederm to the mix and it doesn't last very long. Already headed back for more Voluma at the end of this month--not even a year into the first injections. It will be interesting to see if that pace really does slow down.
