Thrilled with my Tummy Tuck!

WORTH IT
No matter how much exercise I did I could not get rid of my pouch, so as a treat to myself for my 50th I decided to go ahead with a tummy tuck and muscle repair. I am thrilled with the results so far (8 days post op), so nice to have my vertical scar gone! I put up with it for 20 years! I have minimal swelling and bruising, Dr Lennox did an amazing job! I have not seen my new scar yet as it is covered by the surgical dressing which will be removed in a couple of weeks, hoping for the best. The first 3 days were the most intense but still manageable, I felt pretty good by the 5th day, surprisingly I now have lots of energy so I have to remind myself to take it easy. My essential tools for my recovery were a head and leg proper (from amazon), those helped me stay in the perfect position while resting and sleeping. Laxative are also important, trust me, the sooner you take them the better. I did quite a lot of deep breathing exercises to oxygenate myself (as deep as I could, breathing from my back), made sure that I completely emptied my bladder and went for short walks or moved my leg around in bed to prevent blood clots. So grateful to my husband who was an incredible support. Thank you Toni for patiently putting up with all my questions, I was pretty nervous, I even cancelled once. It's interesting I spent so much time worrying about the anesthesia but that was the easiest part, as soon as you go to sleep, you wake up, no time passes, I was actually wondering if anything had happened, I felt no pain just some tightness around my abdomen. The team at Cambie surgical centre was very supportive especially nurse Krissy who stayed with me all day. I would be happy to answer any questions, connecting with other women on the real self helped me a lot with my decision (thanks Jen!). I will post more photos as the healing progresses.

The surgical tape is off and I was able to see my scar for the first time, it looks nice and thin so far and it is healing well, I started putting silicone tape on it. My only disappointment is that it is higher on one side compare to the other, if think I might get a tattoo at some point to over one of the sides. I would say this is minor compare to some serious issues other people can have, so I am still very happy, my procedure was done very well overall. My belly button is still a little raw and is taking more time to heal, I hear this common since there is less blood flow to that area, I like the shape of it, I think it will end up looking quite natural. I am more swollen now compare to my last photo but I am comfortable, my energy is good, I can't wait to be able to exercise again!

I tried on a swimsuit for fun :) Despite still been a little swollen I am very happy with the result so far. I am healing well overall and feeling good. I am now fully upright and I can go on longer walks. My only concern is still my belly button, it is healing much slower than the incision but apparently this is normal because of the lack of blood flow to the area, my surgeon assured me it would heal.
