Hello all,
I’m a 20 year old female from Toronto who has already booked a rhinoplasty with Dr. Oakley Smith in Toronto. My surgery is scheduled for the winter, so I still have a few months until I am ready for my surgery. I’ve been to the consultation and asked some questions so I will begin to document my journey here for anyone interested.

Surgery is in one month!

My surgery is less than one month away and I’m VERY nervous. I get sweaty palms thinking about it and my anxiety doesn’t help. I sat down with Dr. Smith to discuss everything I wanted all over again and he was very sweet and did not charge for the second consultation, it was meant to be a quick meeting (5 mins) that ended up lasting approx 20 mins. He was very busy so I really appreciated the time he took out of his busy day to make sure I felt comfortable with my decision and reviewed everything I wanted. He seems like a sweet man and it’s the main reason I chose him. I’m a very insecure girl as I have many problems with my face... lol. I have very thick nose skin, so my results are limited but the smallest bit counts. I’m very scared of my skin dying as he will be thinning the skin, but he assured me he does at least one thinning a month and never had any problems thus far (knock on wood). I asked for my nose to be de-projected and was told I would most likely only get 1-2 mm due to my the skin thickness. I asked for a feminine profile with a slight curve. I have a bump higher up on my nose and one lower on my nose as well, that hooks when I smile. I also have a very bulbous tip and asked for him to fix that. My parents are very worried for me, and make my stress worse. I just want to be happy, you get me? I worked at a McDonald’s 20 hours a week for 2 years at 18 and 19 while going to school for engineering and flunking a few courses to be able to afford this, I hope all goes well :/ anyways, the photo below is my original consultation pictures where I asked for a straight nose instead of the one I really meant, but it is similar enough to the shape I want.

Day of treatment
I had my surgery!

Hello everyone, I finished my surgery this morning. It’s been roughly 9 hours post op. I’ll post an update with regards to how my first consultation went before my pics &post op. I took pics in my cast immediately out of surgery and will continue to do so until I reach my third month, then follow up with a picture a year after surgery.
Pain: I threw up twice shortly after I woke up and on the car ride home (it was approx1 hour to get home). I do feel a little dizzy and nauseous watching tv but with every passing hour I feel better. I haven’t taken a Percocet yet. I felt slight pressure on my nose when I woke up from surgery but I have no pain so far thank god! (Knock on wood).
From what I can see, the sides and the front of my nose look super cute and I was super happy to see the nose I always wanted for myself. I’ll have to see more properly when the cast comes off but so far I LOVE it :)
My parents were very nervous for me and angry I opted for PS and they have middle eastern accents so my dad came off a bit rude to the doctor but I’m sure he didn’t mean to, and it annoyed me to no end. Dr. Smith was very kind and professional although he seemed a bit annoyed ????
He has a wonderful staff and in all honesty I felt like I was being cared for by my own mother, very VERY sweet bunch of girls. I can’t emphasize how lovely they are and how skilled Dr. Smith is so far

Not sure if anyone is looking at this review atm, but I'll have my review up for Smith again at the end of the month. I can say one thing, I regret having my revision with him. My nose is deviated/slanted, the area above my nostril (alars) are collapsed on one side (Was not corrected during the revision despite having been told I need a graft for that), I have grafts poking through the skin on the top of my nose bridge and my breathing is still bad. He is not someone I would go to. Especially for the amount you're paying. I paid almost 18k and he messed my nose up, it looks like this " / " or " c-shaped" . He has been dishonest with me and gives me a different excuse/reason as to why my breathing isn't good or why my nose is slanted/crooked. He always has a different excuse. I have seen several other surgeons (I have another consult coming up this month) and have been told I need alar grafts at the minimum, with septoplasty most likely being needed. He put filler in my nose twice, which has done nothing much left my skin discolored and the area (on the left side of the boney portion of my nose) lumpy. It seems that many of the reviews (on many sites) are fake, on ratemd you'll find that after a negative review there will suddenly be many positive reviews that appear within a day or week. He is not the best in Toronto and if you end up with poor results you're out of luck as he will not fix it (not that I would trust him to after how he's been dishonest with me). This was one girl that had surgery with him and her nose was destroyed (idk if this is the girl the other user was talking about): https://www.realself.com/review/18-year-girl-successful-revision-rhinoplasty-move-life-2017 . I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. I need revision to fix the issues that he made worse from my botched surgery with David Hacker and the issues that he (Smith) has left me with.
Not sure if it was me you were asking, but I have a surgeon that is my first choice currently. But I have a few more consultations left before I choose. You need to wait 1 year minimum before touching your nose again. I'm being very cautious in choosing my surgeon this time after my experience with Hacker and Smith. I'm not looking to do anything to the boney portion, etc. It'll mostly be grafting to fix alar weakness/collapse and respositioning the tip cartilages to fix my crooked nose+some bossae. I'm not trying to do anything major, I just want the crookedness+alars fixed. I'll post my review up once I have my revision, I will not be going to Smith for it for sure (not that he'll do anything as he seems fine to give a different excuse/reason for my crooked nose, etc) as I don't trust him to be honest with me and I lost faith in him + his ability to fix this issued and not make it worse.
