WORTH IT
I'm currently 6 months post op, the swelling has completely settled & my mouth is fully functioning as normal again. My lips look really nice and proportionate & I'm able to see my teeth which is what I've always wanted.
Scar wise: There is a scar but as you can see from the photo, it isn't very noticeable. Prior to surgery I admittedly already expected some sort of scar due to my ethnic background (some ethnic groups are more prone to scarring no matter how good the surgeon is). Visually, the scar is currently a little red in colour but very flat in texture and completely undetectable once covered up with a tiny bit of make-up. I've been compressing it daily & nightly with silicone scar sheets which I cut into little strips. I will stay consistent with the silicone sheets as they seem to work very well. I highly recommend doing this if you're also prone to scarring or just as a precaution. (Although, only do this once the wound is fully healed, you don't want it to tear open)
As scars take a while to improve, I will give it a full year to allow it to heal. If the colour does not improve by then, I'll plan on getting it camouflaged with a make up tattoo which should fully take care of that issue. I doubt I'll need to as it's progressively already improving but it's good to have a back up plan if needed.
Overall, I'm so thrilled with my results & I would do it all over again if I had to. It's such a subtle change, yet enhanced my entire face. I can't recommend Dr Marando enough to anyone wanting this procedure, he truly is the best of the best. I'll be forever grateful to Dr Marando & his team.

Dr Marando is the Best Surgeon I Could Have Chosen for my Lip Lift
Hi everyone! I found everyone else’s reviews on here very helpful so I thought I’d share my own experience as well.
As far as I can remember, my philtrum has always been too long. My front teeth were never visible so I always smiled with my mouth closed. Whenever I tried to smile with my mouth open, it was very strained and felt unnatural.
Fillers do not fix this kind of issue so after a lot of research I decided to go with the surgical lip lift option. Going with Dr Marando for my lip lift procedure was the best decision I could have ever made. I asked him for a noticeable change and he delivered exactly that by only removing 7MM. I fully trusted his calculations and couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome! I finally have teeth show & am loving how much fuller my lips look. Not only did it bring all my features together but it also greatly improved my side profile which I did not expect to happen.
I found the procedure to be relatively painless and did not feel the need to take any of the prescribed painkillers. I would say the worst part of the entire process was getting the stitches removed but even that wasn’t too bad & over very quickly.
I’m currently only 17 days post op, most of the swelling has gone down but my top lip still feels a little stiff. It’s too early to comment on the scar just yet but I will try and post an update once it’s fully healed.
I’m very pleased with how smoothly everything went. Mr Marando's has such an amazing team, from the reception staff to the nurses and anaesthesiologist.
Julie was the anaesthetic nurse in the operating theatre and probably one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. She was so gentle and considerate, making sure my gown was still covering me when placing the heart monitor stickers on my chest etc. She made me so comfortable, my nerves dissipated to the point where I felt completely relaxed despite laying down on the cold operating table. Absolute angel!
I cannot recall the name of the anaesthesiologist but he was really great as well. I changed my sedation choice from IV to general last minute and he was very accommodating. I also have the tiniest veins which he had no issue inserting the cannula into on the very first try leaving no bruises whatsoever. Good experiences like these have helped calm down my needle phobia tremendously.
If anyone is looking into getting a lip lift, I can confidently highly recommend Dr Marando. He has amazing bedside manners, listens to your concerns thoroughly and is an incredibly skilful surgeon. Pretty much everything you’d want in someone performing a procedure as delicate as a lip lift.
Thank you for reading & please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions in the comments below.

Hi! I was wondering, were you told not to do any strainous activity? I had a lip lift only removing skin not muscle, yet I was told not to lift anything heavier than a carton of milk for a month and to not exercise. This was highly impractical and I ended up having to run to catch a meeting two times during the first week after surgery, and having to sign for a heavy box that came to my door within the first few days. I feel like this didnt do anything bad to the incision other than maybe causing slight extra swelling, but I had no pain or discomfort or anything, and I feel the incision was already healed. I am just curious as to how doctors came up with these weight numbers and limits for exercise with such minor surgery
Hi, I was told not to bend over, exercise or to take steamy showers as it could delay the healing process. My surgeon wasn't as specific regarding weight limits etc. but told me to rest for the first couple of days which I did. I guess if you didn't strain your face too much or agitate the incision, you should be fine. I'm glad to hear your incision is healing so fast, you're so lucky! I'm almost 2 months post op and still healing. Are you liking your results so far?
Hi , I was just wondering how your scar is healing and are you pleased with your results xx
Hi Dawn, I hope you're well. I'm currently little over 2 months post op and the scar is healing pretty nicely. It's currently slightly pink in colour but thankfully nice and flat in texture for the most part. I've been applying Kelo-cote scar gel every day since day 17 post op which I think has helped a lot. It definitely needs more time to heal, it's not been a fast healing process (at least not for me). The incisions right below my nostrils are healing the slowest probably due to my nostrils moving when I laugh/talk despite trying my best to minimise my facial movement. Regardless of the scar outcome, I personally find that this has been a 100% worth it and I'm over the moon with my results. I will post photo updates around 3 months post op xxx
So glad to hear your pleased and healing well. I'm sure it will be a perfect end result, mines booked in for January and thanks for the tip regarding to kelo cote scar gel. I'll get some in. Take care xxx
Looks great! How much did this cost please?
Hi, thank you & I recommend booking a consultation with the clinic to get the most updated quote.
