Had an Amazing Experience
WORTH IT
They say eyes are the window to the soul, however, for the longest time, my biggest insecurity was my eyes.
I decided to undergo an upper blepharoplasty with Dr Ellis Choy this year after many years of hating how uneven my eyes were, and it was the best decision I have made.
Since early teenage years, I had always felt the need to disguise my uneven eyelid crease, whether it be from double eyelid tape, lash extensions, contacts or makeup, yet I would always feel my insecurity double back when I saw photos of myself.
I did not like the way my uneven eyes made it appear as if I had a lazy eye, and it made me extremely self-conscious that I would always close my eyes in photos just to avoid other people from pointing it out.
I went into the consultation with Dr Ellis Choy nervous as I had never undergone any kinds of surgical procedures before, however I was excited to finally take the first step in tackling my biggest insecurity. I was also anxious regarding how my eyes would look post-procedure (if I had decided to go through with it), as I did not want too much of a drastic change.
Dr Ellis Choy was amazing during the consultation, he listened to my concerns, explained exactly why my eyes were drooping the way they were and told me there was a solution to my problems. He made sure to involve me directly in decision making and catered towards my requests while also providing his expertise.
Surprisingly, the overall surgical procedure was not as long as I had expected it to be, and there was minimal discomfort. Dr Ellis Choy and his team were amazing at making sure I was as pain free as possible and comfortable during my procedure, and ensured I was confident in post-op aftercare instructions.
There was never a time pre-or-post procedure where I felt unsupported, and the team made sure if I had any concerns, I could always contact them.
Probably the most tedious part of my journey so far was probably having to remind myself to sleep upright all the time, but afterwards it became second nature to me, and the results were worth it.
Having my stitches removed, and seeing the swelling settle down has made me feel like a new person.
While I still have residual swelling (that will heal over time), I feel more confident in my appearance and myself in general. A lot of my family and friends have complimented my eyes, and how this surgery has enhanced my other features as well. I personally have noticed my lashes look more prominent and curled due to the opening of my eyes.
I no longer feel the need to constantly hide my eyes in phones or hide behind glasses/lash extensions, and it has made getting ready for work or going out a quicker process as I find I do not need to wear as much makeup to mask my flaw.
