Double Eyelid Surgery + Ptosis Correction at Marble W/ Dr. Suh
Why I Chose Marble
I wanted double eyelid surgery because my hooded lids made my eyes look small in pictures and I was tired of using so much makeup.
After a lot of research, I chose Marble and Dr. Suh. I also contacted clinics like ARC, DM, DA, Madeyoung, Banobagi, and NANA, but didn't like the others. ARC responded too late, DM felt pushy, but Marble’s online consultation was fast, detailed, and the English consultant was the friendliest. Since I had limited time in Korea, I put down a deposit to do an in person consult and same day surgery.
Consultation and Surgery
The online consultation was very helpful. I was hoping to do a non-incisional surgery, and the consultant explained trying the "toothpick test" to check if non-incisional would work. They recommended non-incisional with ptosis correction but said the final decision would happen at the in person consult.
On surgery day, my appointment was delayed by a few hours. The staff apologized and threw in an extra IV. During the in person consult, Dr. Suh was very patient and never once did I feel like he was rushing my decision. I showed him my inspiration photos and explained I wanted a very natural look without a deep crease or lid bulging.
He recommended the incisional method for better results with my eye shape but said he would keep the cut shallow to look natural. He also said he would try to give me a semi-out crease like I asked.
The whole surgery took about two hours and I was awake for most of it which was the trippy part. I felt some tugging and stitching but the pain was about a 3 or 4 out of 10. The most uncomfortable part was the ptosis correction. Afterwards, I was given post-op instructions, ointment, and antibiotics to take for 3 days.
Recovery
Recovery was a lot easier than I expected!
Pain peaked at about a four on the day of surgery because my lids started stinging, but it dropped to almost nothing the next day. I walked around Gangnam the day after and even to Busan for a few days. I definitely didn't ice my lids as much as I should have. I just made sure to wear a hat and sunglasses the entire team to keep the sun out of my eyelids as they were healing.
I did have some swelling and bruising, but luckily it just looked like I had purple eyeshadow on. My vision was slightly blurry for a while and my lids are still a bit numb even after 4 weeks. My stitches were removed on day 7 after Dr. Suh checked on my progress, and he deemed the surgery a success. There were no issues with scheduling this time around and I was in and out on time within 15 min. They even had me do a deswelling laser to help with recovery.
Results after 4 weeks
I am really happy with the results so far because my lids already look pretty natural. There is no bulging and the crease height is close to what I asked for. I am excited to see how it continues to heal!
Overall, Dr. Suh was attentive and calm and made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend Marble if you want a natural-looking result.
Tips
- Take bromelain and arnica before and after surgery to help with the swelling and bruising
- Bring a mini red light device if you have one. I used mine religiously every day to help with recovery
- Wash your hair beforehand since you're not supposed to get the eye area wet
- Ask for the tax refund receipt, not the card receipt
- Use lubricating eye drops for dry or blurry eyes
- Try not to wear makeup for two weeks after stitch removal
