Natural, Beautiful Eyelids
WORTH IT
I did extensive research to find the best Asian plastic surgeon in the NYC area, and found Dr. Lao's work to be the most natural in the before and after pictures.
I was pretty hesitant since I've never done any cosmetic procedures before. However, Dr. Lao made me feel really comfortable during the consultation, and suggested a few different procedures for me to consider. I never felt like he was pushy about any of them though, and I initially scheduled just a double eyelid surgery using the suture method, since my goal was a natural result.
After thinking some more on my own and researching a bunch online, I decided to go through with the combination surgeries that Dr. Lao suggested and I'm so glad I did. Getting them all done together meant that I could undergo general anesthesia, and as a result, my surgery day was completely painless. I also only had to heal once, instead of going back and getting more things done. Nancy and Rubie were also super sweet whenever I emailed to ask about the schedule and to add on the additional surgeries.
I looked very puffy the first few days after surgery and worked from home for around a week. After that week, I looked fairly presentable and was fine going back to work / out in public (although my upper eyelids were still quite swollen). I saw a lot of online videos of people who got double eyelid surgery and fully healed within a week, but if you're reading this and your eyelids are still swollen many weeks after, just know that you're not alone. My eyes still had residual swelling up through week 7 (especially in the mornings), but Dr. Lao assured me that they would continue to heal/de-swell. My eyes are looking very natural now and I really love the results. My friends and family all say my eyes are super natural and pretty as well, just how I wanted :)
Just remember to be patient, and that everyone heals at a different pace. Dr. Lao and his team continued to follow up with me throughout the last few months and I felt very taken care of. Thank you Dr. Lao for making me feel comfortable the whole way through and for the beautiful, natural results. If you're thinking about getting your eyelids done, I definitely recommend scheduling a consultation with him!
