Natural Adhesion DES and Undereye Fat Repositioning

I set up a consultation with Thank You Plastic Surgery in Seoul, South Korea because I liked their before/after pictures when it came to the natural adhesion double eyelid method, and I opted to add undereye fat repositioning because I also had eyebags that bulged when I smiled. My surgeon was young but confident and he learned from the head director. He was patient, and suggested a few different lines for me to consider. Some of my other consultations felt rushed, overcharged foreigners, and also pressured me to book the surgery immediately, so I decided to choose Thank You because they made me feel the most comfortable and the price was reasonable. I also read comments on non-sponsored blogs that mentioned Thank You had many satisfied patients and a good reputation with locals, which reinforced my choice.

The day of, the surgeon spent more time than usual discussing the final line design with me, which I appreciated! He explained the tradeoffs of each option while leaving the decision up to me - for example, if I wanted any higher of a line, it could result in excess skin bunching. I liked that his attitude was neither “anything is possible” nor was he firmly suggesting only one line design.

I was a little nervous, but surgery was 100% painless and felt like taking a nap. Since I did two surgeries at once, I had a difficult time opening my eyes for the hour after surgery while under the ice pack, and overall I felt a little dizzy for the rest of the day, but starting the next day I resumed my tourist activities around Seoul without any discomfort besides being swollen and somewhat teary-eyed.

It’s been about one week now since I had surgery, and I’ve since had my canthoplasty stitches and undereye tape removed. After following the care directions and going back to the clinic once for a de-swelling light facial, I can see my eyes starting to settle into their new shape with clean, clear lines and I already love looking in the mirror! One eye is a little more swollen than the other, but that’s to be expected. The line area and my under eyes are still a little tender to the touch, but the pain is so minor, like an old bruise.

This is a surgery I’ve wanted ever since I started using double eyelid tape in high school. I didn’t have the kind of eyes that looked good as monolids, and they swallowed all makeup once I looked up. Now I’m over the moon with happiness knowing that I’ll finally feel confident in my appearance and be able to use the pretty eyeshadow palettes I bought in Seoul! I’m seriously 10/10 satisfied so far and would recommend Thank You to any friend of mine looking to do natural adhesion in the future!

1.5 month post-surgery update:

For a while, my left eye felt more swollen than my right eye, and seemed to be healing slower. I was worried that the asymmetry would be permanent, but as both eyes healed, they became more symmetrical. Sometimes I think maybe I shouldn’t have adjusted my right eye’s line lower by 1mm since that eye was smaller than my left to begin with, but it doesn’t make a huge difference to be honest.

Since I had a lot of excess skin, and natural adhesion doesn’t remove any skin or fat, the lines of my double eyelids are pretty deep right now, which I don’t mind. My undereye bags have completely disappeared which I love, but there is still a twinge of darkness under my eyes from the healing bruises.

I’ve already tried putting makeup on and the amount of real estate I have to play with is amazing! Overall, so happy with the results, I love the shape and look of my new eyes and every day they become more natural! My friends sometimes tell me they forgot I got my eyes done :) Would recommend Dr. Hwang at Thank You clinic to anyone looking for pretty, clean eyelid lines!
