Double Eyelid Surgery

I’m writing this review six years after having double eyelid surgery and medial epicanthoplasty with Dr. Michael Byun. This is a procedure that requires great attention to detail, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Before surgery, when he was marking the crease, I mentioned that they appeared uneven. My concern was brushed off, and I was told not to worry because adjustments could be made during the procedure. After fully healing, my creases still looked uneven and unnatural and scar tissue in the inner corners that never faded.

The outcome deeply affected me. I struggled with depression over how my eyes looked, though I was hopeful that one day I could correct it. Six years later, I finally underwent revision surgery with another surgeon. Immediately post-op, I could already see a significant improvement in symmetry. The difference in bedside manner and professionalism was also clear annd I had an entirely better experience.

I was young and naive during my initial consultation and ignored several red flags. I share this in hopes that others will carefully consider their decision and trust their instincts when choosing a surgeon.
