Life Changing
Joseph, Francesco and William are unbelievably adept surgeons. To say that these 3 doctors changed my life wouldn’t do them, their hard work, their patience and diligence, or the years they’ve spent honing their craft even the least bit of justice. Frank, Joe and Will have given me a life I don’t think I could imagine and still don’t quite believe.
Having spent many years deeply unhappy about my body shape and sheer size, I visited Cosmosclinic for their aptly-named “Megalipo” (a term which fitted me well! I was certainly ‘mega’ before the Three Musketeers got their magic hands on me!). Before my surgery, I was self-conscious and extremely anxious, even in spite of losing almost 40kg naturally. I had missed professional opportunities, had personal relationship break down, and even become antisocial because of how I looked. I was not only unhappy with my body, but suffered from a deeply unhappy state of mind. I presented with a massive overhanging male chest, rolls of fat down my back and sides, a huge 40” waist and thighs that constantly rubbed together. In 43-degree Sydney summer heat I was running around in an undershirt, a loose t-shirt, and a heavy jacket just to try and mask my shape.
The support the doctors offered in the lead up and between these surgeries was fantastic. I am (by my own admission) high maintenance patient and I cannot praise them enough for their calmness and their simple ‘availability’. These guys are busy - they’re the best in the business, there’s a reason they’re booked front to back - but if you need their help, or you need to see them, they are there before, during or after your procedure. The task ahead of the doctors was a big one - no pun intended - and my multiple surgeries were spaced out over two days, with a third and fourth surgery scheduled some months later. I would describe what I had done as “low impact, high result” because even though they removed a tremendous amount of fat, and re-shaped my entire body; I was comfortable enough just two days later to return for more surgery to other areas.
My aim from the surgery was to be able to wear a t-shirt without boobs - thats all I wanted. Dr Ajaka had a different idea: he promised to ensure I was comfortable with my shirt off entirely. At the time, I didn’t believe him… and I am so happy he proved wrong. As I sit here today, with one more small touch-up surgery in front of me, the boys have achieved exactly what they set out to do: given me the body shape I didn’t believe was possible.
Recovery pain was low and easily manageable, and not being able to sit down or lie on my bottom for 6 weeks was the only inconvenience. But… when you take your compression garments off, get in the shower, and feel the difference in your body just days after surgery... the bits you could grab are gone, as are the bits you had to - and I cringe saying this - lift… it’s the best feeling in the world. Throughout my recovery I called upon Dr Francesco more than any one else. He was present not only during my consultations, but he was my surgeon on every procedure (in fact I remember him making me laugh and calming me down when I was talking throughout one of my surgeries… which I think I did most of the time). He was there for every single wake up in the recovery room, and every single follow up as he continued to support me throughout my journey. He has the hands of God, and the patience of a Saint — the man works miracles!
I’ve had many ‘firsts’ since my surgery - and each and every one I owe to Frank, Joe and Will. Most days I get up and wear a t-shirt, I’ve gone to parties in unbuttoned loose linen shirts, or business meetings in tight figure-hugging shirts and suit pants… or even rushed to meet a courier at the door with my shirt off without a care in the world. I just feel like me.
Meeting the team at Cosmos Clinic was supposed to happen. They have changed my life in unimaginable ways, and I will forever be grateful for what they have done for me.
