Don't Do Juvederm for Tear Troughs

I had Juvederm injected under my eyes to fill in the hollow and dark look under my eyes. I went in to get it in hopes of improving my looks, but I look worse now. I have big lumps under my eyes and the darkness is worse now than it was before.

I had been assured by my doctor that if I did not like it she would get the stuff to dissolve it and do that for me. When I told her that I wanted to have it reversed because I hated it, she started telling me that she was not sure where to get it and that she had never actually done it.

With the damage that she had already done to my face, I was scared to let her do anything else especially with the way that she was talking about it. I am afraid that I have no choice now except to wait until it goes away on it's own.

There is an enzyme called hyaluronidase (branded hydase or vitrase) that will dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers (juvederm / restylane) BUT if your provider has not used this product before then go somewhere else. It requires just as much skill and expertise to dissolve filler as it does to put it in. Your injector clearly has no idea. Further, lots of people have a hypersensitivity reaction to hyaluronidase. (I did and see posts from ANAN and kaki etc) Even though I am sure that you are desperate to get rid of the juvederm, hyaluronidase can make your problems worse if you are not careful. ASK FOR A TEST SHOT IN YOUR ARM BEFORE YOU LET THEM PUT IT NEAR YOUR EYES. You need to make sure you do not have a bad reaction to it. As I understand it (now!), hyaluronidase should be administered very dilute and in very small amounts. If more is required to get rid of the filler then you can always go back and have a little more after a couple of weeks. You should also be aware the a large part of your skin is made up of natural hyaluronic acid. Some doctors think that the hyaluronidase will only dissolve the filler while others believe that it will also damage your natural tissue. In my experience, and from the discolouration I now have under my eyes, I think it damages natural tissue. Be careful and good luck.
