Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

I have been a patient of Dr. Romero of the Romero...

I have been a patient of Dr. Romero of the Romero Clinic in Dix Hills, NY since 2009/2010.
I have used other ‘providers’ before beginning with the Romero Clinic and a single time ‘after’. The ‘after’ was a giant regret and retrospectively all the ‘priors’ were simply a bad beginning to what should be a an event one might look forward to.
Set aside for a moment that the Romero Clinic does a big volume and thus offers a wide array of discounts. And if you feel that somehow embodies crowded waiting rooms – where patients ordinarily might be looking each up and down thinking: ‘ What is she here for’. In the ten or eleven times I have been to see Dr. Romero I have only on a single occasion bumped into another patient.
But being a man placed a higher degree of emphasis on this sort of anonymity we all would like at these places.
This is how I came to judge Dr. Romero:
1- I had been to four other providers. One dermatologist had done the labial folds (around the mouth) a dozen times. But he kept repeating the same procedure. Getting ahead here, when I finally discovered Dr. Romero and asked for the ‘same thing’ (as if it were a haircut or drink at a bar) Dr. Romero carefully and patiently explained how the original concept begun ten years earlier (the lines framing the mouth- and the pursuit to extinguish them) was actually causing my face to ‘distort’. Dr. Romero showed me on a computer model that what I had long needed was to fluff up or fatten my cheeks- and that would add a youthful appearance and simultaneously tug up the lines at the sides of my mouth in the same procedure. From then on, this is how we proceeded.
2- Back to the other providers: I used ones in Connecticut and in the Hamptons. A couple times after spending fully 100% more than the Romero Clinic charges, I went home in utter embarrassment- the victim of poorly thought through procedures- and in one case I departed that Hampton’s office feeling fully deformed and did not go outside for weeks.
3- The one time I ‘cheated’ on Dr. Romero and went elsewhere based on ease of geography: I had to go to Dr. Romero to fix up what that provider did- which was render me into looking like a chipmunk with a mouthful of acorns.
Dr. Romero is an artisan. He listens to what the look is that a patient desires. He explains the ‘can do’ and the ‘not possible’ . If I say I want to look more like Ashton Kutcher, Dr. Romero will say I can offer perhaps a young version of Sean Penn. He will instantly tell you that he is an artisan and aesthetician and not a magician.
To me- he is a magician. I have driven away from his office feeling not really like a ‘million bucks’, but darn close. One time there was some material left over and he asked my thoughts. I explained I felt my nose was too pointed and too narrow. He offered to convert it to more of a ‘Roman nose’, with a look wide at the bridge. Ten minutes later my pointed nose was vanquished and was more Roman. Was it permanent? No. Fillers aren’t perpetual. It is part of a youthful maintenance regime or campaign.
I will drive no matter how far it is I have to go in order to return to Romero Clinic. I’ve had too many bad and unhappy experiences to take chances.
In our talks Dr. Romero has always made me feel good about myself, while being honest with me.
So let me add up the variables:
1- No waiting
2- No crowded wait rooms
3- Responsive support staff
4- An artisan as a provider
5- Best pricing anywhere.
6- And let us not forget his willingness to repair another doctor’s disaster.
