Diastasis Recti Repair and Tummy Tuck

Diastasis Recti Repair and Tummy Tuck

On November 28th, 2018, I underwent the most life changing procedure of my life. I suffered from Diastasis Recti for over 6 years before undergoing diastasis recti repair in the form of a tummy tuck.

I spent countless hours researching techniques, Drs, and the general understanding of what was occurring inside my body. Diastasis recti is much more common then it is talked about and nearly all women are affected by this condition to some degree during and/or after pregnancy. I had a severe case and therefore needed a diastasis recti expert to handle my complicated case.

Ladies, your research can come to an end as Dr. Rady Rahban is an elite surgeon who not only has the knowledge, but has an IMMENSE skillset to correct this condition. He is incredibly meticulous, precise, and technically savvy to correct even the most severe cases such as myself. I couldn't be happier from the moment I had my first consult, to now 4 months post op. I was suffering from chronic low back pain as a result of the diastasis recti. My core was to some degree deformed and the muscles that would help support my core were completely useless in supporting my back. My connective tissue was extremely compromised which required extensive reconstruction to regain the necessary support my abdominal wall needed.

One of the major priorities that impacted my decision to go with Dr. Rahban is he doesn't use mesh... this is HUGE. Especially in my case where most Drs. said it wouldn't be possible. Well Dr. Rahban made it happen and he repaired my diastasis recti without the use of mesh!!! In addition, I had an umbilical hernia which was repaired alongside the DR which was incredible.

It's with immense gratitude that I report that soon after the surgery was complete, I was no longer experiencing the chronic pain that had affected me every day! Not only was my core back to being a functioning part of my body, but the aesthetic result is OUTSTANDING!!! My tummy is flat, my incision is low and thin and easily concealed below the bikini line!! I have finally wore a bikini for the first time in over 6 years!!! My belly button also required reconstruction, and it looks AMAZING!! I can't even see any scars as Dr. Rahban is an expert at shaping and creating gorgeous belly buttons!

In terms of post op care, I was floored by how responsive, caring, and attentive Dr. Rahban was alongside his amazing staff Sally, Maggie, Heidi, and Carolina. They really take every patient to heart and not only celebrate with you, but are there every step of the way!

Dr. Rahban and staff, THANK YOU with all my heart for all that you have done. All the research paid off because it lead me to YOU. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

What a beautiful outcome. So glad this was a success and overall good experience for you! Thank you for sharing with the community. Do you have any tips or advice for those suffering from diastasis recti who are considering the surgery to repair it?

Hi Cindy! It's my pleasure, thank you for your kind words. Diastasis Recti is a common but not spoken enough as often as it should. I would be more than happy to shed some of my research and help other mamas that are in a similar position. The biggest hurdle is finding the right surgeon who is not only is knowledgeable about the condition, but has the skillset, precision, strong technical ability all combined with artistry to successfully repair the damaged fascia in a manner that allows for both full function and aesthetic appeal. Severe diastasis cases can be slightly more involved than a standard tummy tuck muscle repair. It's crucial the surgeon has this knowledge. There are many facets to the condition and the repairing of it that are significant contributors to the result and longevity of the surgery. First, it's important that the surgeon is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Next, is avoiding mesh as there is sufficient evidence of the risk factors involved with that. Other areas of importance would be suturing techniques, incision placement, belly button reconstruction, accreditation of the surgery facility as well as a Board Certified Anesthesiologist alongside the Doctor. It's also crucial that if there's an existing hernia to repair it simultaneously alongside the Diastasis Recti repair. But the most important decision a mother can make, is her choice in her surgeon. I can not explain the level of relief when you find "the one". This will make it or break it in terms of outcome and sustainability. Dr. Rahban happens to be among the elite surgeons who is also a Diastasis Recti expert. All of my countless hours of research led to him, and I can personally vouch for his excellence. Please feel free to message me as I would love to shed more light on this issue. It truly stems deeper than vanity. I'd be more than happy to speak in greater detail regarding any of the topics above.
Hi, I have been considering doing surgery for years as well. Your results are perfect, exactly what I am looking for. Do you mind showing pictures of your incision and how big they are? What are the techniques that Dr. Rahban uses? Was it easy to book Dr. Rahban? How about Costs? Sorry for all the questions! TIA!!
Hi! So happy to help and beyond happy to answer you questions!! I actually traveled from TX to Cali specifically for him... after yrs of research, he by far excelled both technically and aesthetically. One of the many things I appreciate about Dr. Rahban is that he doesn't use mesh to correct Diastasis Recti which is amazing!! Another strong point that drew me to him is his suturing technique - specifically figure 8 suturing. Additionally, his incisions are low, and scar is thin, something he's incredibly skilled at. DM me and I'd be happy to go into more detail. I say with much confidence, he is a DR expert! Yes, very easy to book with Dr. Rahban. Since I was traveling, they were very accommodating and Skyped my first consult, super easy!! I would recommend contacting the office and speaking with Maggie. All the girls are amazing and so helpful!! Feel free to message me anytime as well!
If you haven't already taken a look at his website, I highly recommend checking it out. The site also has helpful educational information regarding Diastasis Recti.

Amazing transformation and so happy your lower back is better! You are right, not enough talk about DR. Thank you for sharing your story
Thank you SO much!
Ive been looking for a dr. to repair my umbilical hernia without the use of mesh. I know of the horrendous complications of mesh and have been horrified to find most still do. Thank you for your post.
Hi! Yes, its commonly used unfortunately. Grateful for Drs like Dr Rahban that understand its risks and avoid it.
