This Changed my Life!

After having 2 kids within 2 years my body transformed and I developed Diastasis Recti. I started noticing how no matter what trainer, coach or dietitian I hired, what foods I omitted from my diet or what DR recovery therapy I tried, my “mommy pooch” was just not going away. I realized it wasn’t fat, but because my core was separated from top to bottom my guts had no choice by to quite literally fall down towards my pelvis. It pulled on my low back constantly and I knew I was in a fragile position of having chronic back pain. I was in a constant state of feeling bloated and completely frustrated. After my youngest turned 4 years old I was still struggling to get any glimpse of hope. I started googling DR surgery and stumbled upon only a few in the country that were experts in this surgery. Dr. Rady Rahban was one of the first sites I landed on and every surgeon I reached out to just didn’t measure up to Dr. Rahban. From the moment I reached out to his office, I knew I was in the hands of the most experienced, professional and capable hands and Dr. Rahban is just that - plus he’s the perfect kind of perfectionist, down to earth, real, incredibly passionate about this work and I just knew he was the only person I wanted to do my surgery.
I flew in to meet him for my first consultation and knew my life was going to change forever once I had this surgery. I didn’t just have any extra $20k lying around but I didn’t let that stop me. I had 6 months before surgery to figure it out and I did.
On the day of my surgery, I was greeted and taken care of by the most incredible nurse and anesthesiologist who made me feel calm and at peace. What I learned that morning was Dr. Rahban works with the same core group of professionals for all surgeries because he requires everything to be perfect and those humans were the absolute best.
There wasn’t any pain post surgery (sneezing and coughing did cause some discomfort but it was totally manageable) - I was instructed that I needed to stay hunched over for a week while I recovered and that was the only part that felt uncomfortable. The only pain medicine I needed was a high dose of Tylenol and after my one week post office visit I was walking normally.
Flash forward to now, 6 weeks post surgery and I am back to me! My stomach is flat, I have zero back pain, I can do all the gym workouts, hikes, pilates I want and everyday I feel better and better. It was the quickest 6 weeks of my life that was just a time of rest and recovery and I would 100% do this surgery all over again because it has completely changed my life and the lives of my kids and husband. I am no longer feeling like I’m disabled or can’t do certain things because I “don’t have a core”. I am healed and it was the best gift I could have ever given myself. I would only recommend Dr. Rahban for this surgery because he is the absolute best - there is no one who even compares to his passion, precision and expertise. Don’t wait another day to book this surgery if you are like me. I promise it will change your whole life!

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. I'll be one week post op from having a tummy tuck with DR repair, umbilical hernia repair, and a breast lift w/o implant. I'm recovering nicely from what I can feel and I can't wait to see myself without the binder for the first time at my appt this week. I was like you, once I found Dr. Rahban, I knew he was the surgeon for me.

Hi! I have surgery scheduled with Dr. Rahban in 2 months! We appear to have the same body type (very fit except for a pooch). Your results look great, wondering if you booked a surgery aftercare, or if your husband/family was able to help the first few days.
Also, how long did you take off work? I’m taking one week off work, and WFH the second week, hoping that’s enough time to recover.
Thanks for your insights!

Hi! Amazing, so happy for you! I stayed in LA with my husband for a week post surgery -- I honestly couldn't do much except take a lap around the house hunched over for the first week and pee (tmi but I for sure needed help after I went #2 because twisting to wipe was sometimes painful). At my 1 week checkup I was doing much better in terms of standing and energy-wise and then after that I was fortunate to have my husbands help so I didn't have to do much and just let my body recover (ie in bed all day, getting up to eat). I would go on tiny walks outside but my stamina was really low. I didn't drive until week 3 and then by week 6 I was feeling pretty recovered. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the quick reply! This is so very helpful! And I wouldn’t have thought about the #2 and twisting so thank you for bringing that up!
