Follow-up

It's been over a month since the dermaplaning and my little fuzzies are growing back but they are a bit stiff. Obviously the old peach fuzz was soft from being untouched forever. This is the only drawback for me. My skin loved it, but now I'm waiting for my hair to soften as it returns. It's not beard level prickly but it's not as soft as I'd like.
I'd get it done again sometime in the future, especially to deal with any pigmentation or acne problems. My eczema did just fine with it and did not flare up thank God. Will I do it again soon? Probably not but I'm glad to have tried it out. Next "treat yo self," I want a massage lol.

Afters

So what does it feel like? It's like a scraping feeling, closer to scratching an itch than anything else. No pain at all, just stay still while it's done.

Will your hair grow back thicker? No, vellous hair is not like other body hair. It remains light and thin. My face has been covered in light blonde peach fuzz my entire life and I expect that it will come back exactly the same as it was before removal. Of course I'll try to update this later on to show that result.

How long did it take? Maybe 30 minutes, quicker than I expected. I have a few moles on the side of my face (thanks driver's side window!) that she had to slow down around, but otherwise it was quick strokes of the scalpel. Don't think of it as a surgery scalpel, those are much much sharper.

So I've got sensitive, dry skin + eczema; how is it reacting? Immediately after the facial, I felt very smooth and soft. Yay! I let her know that I have reactions to fragrance and chemicals so we opted for no products after the dermaplaning was done. I planned to go home and moisturize with my (Vanicream Lite) lotion to play it safe. But I ran a bunch of errands first instead. Probably should've brought a hat or worn sunscreen but didn't. Bad move on my part. Sun damage risk ahoy!

It's been almost 12 hours since the treatment and I took photos right after showering. Any redness should resolve by tomorrow I think. I feel no burning or itching, no raised irritated patches thank goodness.

I chose this procedure for the serious exfoliation and defuzzing, not for discoloration but I can see that it could be worth it to get rid of acne scars if you went in regularly.

Fuzz free!

Scheduled my appointment for 11am this morning, and assumed that it would be about 45 minutes to an hour. Arrived 10 minutes early in case there was any paperwork to do. Some places want to hear about allergies, previous conditions or treatments, etc. But no papers to do here, she just talked to me and was ready to explain the procedure in case I was nervous at all. I told her that I'd looked up quite a bit of info and watched videos of dermaplaning before buying my GroupOn to try it out, I was ready to go! And of course, she reassured me that the hair DOES NOT grow back thicker. No beard risk!
More later, time to drive home to moisturize!
