ORIGINAL POST
Hi All, Has anyone had any experience with...
WORTH IT$35,000
Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience with SARME/SARPE or double jaw surgery? I had SARME surgery on the 21st April 2015 to widen my upper jaw, and then I've got double jaw surgery hopefully in 2016 to put my lower jow backwards and upper jaw forwards to transform my face for the better. Does the double jaw surgery have any impact on cheekbones, shape of face etc? I know this is a very invasive procedure but I've suffered severe depression, anxiety and eating disorders (Bulimia Nervosa put me in emergency hospital in London for nearly 4 weeks) over how I perceive the shape of my face so i would appreciate any advice on SARME and Double Jaw Surgery and your experiences. The photos below are all of where I am at with my SARME surgery so far.

I have the same questions. I will post pictures later. I just got braces a few months ago. I have a 6mm underbite. And they are talking about doing a double jaw. Moving 3mm forward on upper and 3mm backward on lower. While the main reason I am doing this is for practical reasons like eating and chewing. Also of course concerned about looks. Will my cheek bones be more prominent or more of a defined jaw line?

Hi Manny, that sounds very exciting!! Are you excited? How do you feel about your face now does it bother you? Your cheek bones will not necessarily be more prominent because your top jaw is already nice and wide (I've had to have one lot of surgery already to get that!) When you have your top jaw moved forward it will lift your face slightly and make your nose tilt up more. You have a very attractive face as it is I think you will look amazing! Hope this helps.

I was looking through your pictures and thinking how pretty you are. I was surprised to read you are depressed about the way you look. What is it that you don't like about the shape of your face?

Thank you so much I don't understand how people see this and I can't see it :(. My top jaw is very receeded to makes my face hollow, especially when i smile and from the side. Because my upper jaw is receeded my bottom jaw looks large and like I have a big chin. So its quite a manly profile and not feminine at all, especially when I smile. I have to get photos at the right angle to look more female. Thank you so much for your comment though. Hopefully I'll get there one day.

Happy 89 thank you so much really, thank you. Where abouts in the UK are you from? How big is your underbite? Ask me anything about UK healthcare if you would like to know, or how you are feeling. Lily

Braces to close SARPE gap and prepare for double jaw surgery
Hi Everyone,
I know it's been a while since I updated but just wanted to show a few photos of my braces starting to close my gap after my upper jaw expansion surgery (SARPE). Only problem is because my front teeth are now closed I have a huge gap to the side, but hopefully the orthodontist will put power chains on those ones at my next appointment in two weeks (praying so anyway..) anyone had any experience with how the gap closes but then forms others after upper jaw expansion surgery? Once all teeth are in line I will be ready for my double jaw surgery! Hoping I will then finally be happy and be able to accept my profile. Any questions regarding anything so far feel free to ask.

Hi! I'm from the uk too! I'm about to undergo SARPE surgery. I was supposed to have surgery at the beginning of the month but it was cancelled due to lack of beds. Did you have your procedure through the NHS? I'd love any tips you havr based on your experience. Your teeth are looking better each day, you'll get there! Thanks for sharing your experience. Xx
