I saw Dr.Shah two years ago for an abdominoplasty after I lost 100+lbs.
I had never been skinny. Even as a kid I remember my mom having to buy "husky" jeans for me.
By the time I was a sophmore in college, I was weighing in at 245 lbs!
I hated the way I looked :( I knew it was gonna get worse if I didnt do something about it.
I started with small changes. I stopped drinking soda and beer. I was part of a sorority and giving up anything was very hard. BUT IT WORKED!!! I lost 30 lbs with just excluding sugary beverages and walking to and from campus. My sorority sisters began to notice a difference and began encouraging me by going on walks or working out with me. At first I had no idea what I was doing when I walked into the gym. I would just turn on the treadmill for an hour and call it a day. Going with a buddy encouraged me to venture into weight lifting. After I started lifting, I noticed a drastic change. My endurance, strength, the way my clothes fit etc. Everything started changing. I LOOOOVED IT!!! There was only one problem... My skin was beginning to sag. Especially my stomach :( How discouraging.
I kept on going. I kept up with good dieting and exercise. I wanted to lose weight on my own without any drugs or diet pills. I didn't want my weight to yo-yo. I wanted to lose the weight and keep it off. I had done it. It took a whole 5 years but I had finally done it. I lost 100 lbs.
I started meeting with plastic surgeons. I met with 3 surgeons. I booked with a a surgeon in Lone Tree.
My friend Michelle introduced me to Dr.Shah and I totally and completely changed my mind.
Dr.Shah was so genuinely kind. I'm not saying that the original surgeon I had booked with wasn't nice. I just clicked with Dr.Shah. The experience was different. I just felt comfortable with him.
My consultation was about an hour and he went through everything with me. Not once did I feel rushed. He answered all the questions I wanted to ask him. I BOOKED! AGAIN!!! hehehe*
I got to see Dr Shah for my pre-op appointment and he went through everything I needed to know. Pre and post op instructions, my prescriptions, consent forms, recommendation of things that would make my healing process more comfortable. EVERYTHING.
I can honestly swear by something him and his staff call Rapid Recovery Protocol. Its just a few supplements that will help you heal faster.
The day of my surgery had finally arrived. Dr.Shah does surgery out of Renewal Surgery Center and the staff there are really sweet too. I got a female anesthesiologist.
I had never been placed under anesthesia and I was scared, anxious, worried and excited all at the same time. The thought of being placed under anesthesia made my anxiety sky rocket. I had nothing to worry about. It was the easiest part of the entire process. I didn't get sick. Not even a little bit.
After I woke up from surgery, I felt like a bomb went off in my stomach, which is normal because Dr.Shah used permanent sutures to tighten my muscles back together and then removes the sagging skin I had. My cousin drove me home after surgery and got me into the recliner. (I recommend you sleep in a recliner for at least the first week because your muscles are so tight you wont be able to lie flat in your bed).
I got lucky because my mom got to take care of me. She made sure I look my medications when I needed to, took my supplements when I was had to. She helped me wash my hair and sponge bathe. Sigh* I love her.
Honestly it was everything I expected. The pain went away after a few days. I still felt really tight but better. I went back to work a week after surgery, even when Dr.Shah recommended that I take 2 weeks off of work.
One thing I hated more than anything in the world were the drains!!! I accidentally pulled one of them with my knee. Drains are usually removed a week after surgery. Mine took a little longer to be removed because I was still draining. I think it was because I was moving a lot when I went back to work.
I am now 2 years out and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my results. The entire experience was a walk in the park. I never doubted Dr.Shah for a second.
He is the best at what he does. I trust the man with my whole life.
UP NEXT a rhinoplaty.
I really needed to get my nose fixed.
I without a doubt came to Dr. Shah. I knew he specialized in rhinoplasty but I didn't know that he specialized in ethnic rhinoplasty (I'm Sephardi Catalonian).
I had never heard that a nose job could be done in office. Dr. Shah does tip rhinoplasty in office under local anesthetic! I saved so much money doing it this way.
Of course. Not everybody is a candidate for an in office rhinoplasty, but I got lucky.
Dr.Shah did simulations with me at the time of my consultation. He went through all risks. He plays everything so safe (another reason why I like him so much). He is not afraid to tell me if something is realistic or not.
I WAS BOOKED FOR SURGERY. AGAIN!!!
He gave me 2 prescriptions. An antibiotic and a pain medication. He also had me start the Rapid Recovery Protocol, again.
In office surgeries are so easy. The only discomfort I felt was when he injected me with local anesthetic. after that, I didn't feel a thing.
Honestly... I didn't even need the pain medication. The one thing I did need was the humidifier he recommended I get. My apartment is so dry that I had to crank my humidifier. I also used a little bit of Aquaphore along my nostrils to keep my nose moisturized.
Dr. Shah said that it takes the tip a full year for all its swelling to go down. You notice a huge change right after he removes your cast though.
Can I just say, I FREAKING LOVE MY NOSE!!!
Everyday it gets smaller and cuter. I LOVVVVEEE it.
I"m two months out and I couldn't be happier.
Once again, Dr. Shah makes a home run!
