Removed Root Canal #18 Molar for Ceraroot Implant

For the last couple of years I’ve been wanting to remove some root canals and have them replaced with implants. Doing the research behind this all shows that root canals are 100% diseased teeth once they are dead. They harbour some deadly bacteria. I finally got around to doing one of my molars and going through all the health consultations with an excellent biological dentist. The first day wasn’t bad as expected as far as pain. As the days wore on up to day 5 I was starting to experience a very nagging gum pain around the implant. Around the rim of the gum shows some redness and some soreness. I went back on day 8 to have my stitches removed and my dentist noticed it was sore and a bit red but wasn’t too concerned and said It didn’t look infected. It didn’t. He said it was a little unusual to have this sensation. He said to wait another week which is 3 days away to take some pics and send them to him. I’m 2.5 hours away. I’ve sent the pics already because I’m still having some very sensitive pain around the gums all the way around the implant top and bottom, almost like a gnawing sensation. It’s puffy beside the gum into the cheek comparing it to the right side in the same spot. Every where you read says I should not be having this kind of discomfort. There is not much swelling on the outside of the jaw just a bit of tenderness. I’m trying to figure this out. Could there be some bone graft material caught inside my gum? The collagen plug material pushing against my gums? Could it be an infection starting slowly inside? I rinse 3x a day with coconut oil Pulling, salt water rinses. I use a very soft tooth brush. I’ve followed the dentists protocol to a “T”. I’ve done everything that was asked. I’m now hoping he is going to remove it and let it heal for the 3-4 months before reapplying it. I should mention that after he extracted the molar he said I was an excellent candidate to immediately apply the implant after extraction. Maybe I wasn’t. He has a strict protocol when doing his procedures. They even drew my blood and made plasma out of my blood and used
It in the socket I assume to help speed the healing. If this is an infection of some sort then hopefully antibiotics will take care of it.

Usually it'll take about 2-3 weeks for the swelling/ tenderness to be completely gone. I also had 4 implants for 4 missing teeth. Just keep taking your antibiotics you'll be fine. Good luck

Dentist put me on another course of antibiotics for 7 days. It’s day 5 and it’ still feels the same way. Even to touch my lower jaw where the implant is in, it is very tender and still a bit swollen but not enough to see looking at my face. I have to call him this Wednesday after the antibiotics are done. 400mg Advil is my saving grace for now every 8 to 10 hrs. Just enough to take the edge off. I think he’s going to pull the implant out and let it all heal for the 3 or 4 months.

Thank you! Actually the irritation has calmed down as well as the pain. I was getting a pin prick sensation where the gum goes over the implant on the inside of the implant. I couldn’t figure out why. I noticed the ridge of the implant had come thru the gum and all of a sudden I had relief. That explains the irritation. On my way for a check up today. He will probably trim the gum. It had to be done anyway because the crown would of pinched the gum where it meets the implant.

Who is the biological dentist you went to and how are these different from other implants?

The implant was a Ceraroot Zirconium not titanium. Dr Farahani out of Kitchener Ontario.
