Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Ripped off

If you have to record your conversations with a doctor for documentation there is a huge problem that has evolved. I hate to change my review because I was happy with the practice but it's not the same as the first visits. I went because it was close to my house. I never thought to do my homework. Every dentist's website shows their education, accreditations and affiliations within the field. I would think that is something to brag about or share for patients to feel confident about their work but there is only a claim to being "recognized as one of the top Mandeville dentistry practices. Verified by Opencare.com." OpenCare is for dentists to use and not patient reviews or input. I'm not sure when this practice was recognized as a top dentistry practice because it's not provided. Who is judging this and what's the criteria? Any business could theoretically claim to be recognized as one of the best. I recognize Rips on the Lake one of the best places to eat. Does that count? You either love them or dislike them with no grey area in between. Answering the phone seems to be an issue. Returning messages seems to be a bigger issue. A different staff seems to be an even bigger issue as the quality of work suffers as does the confidence of patient's care. Their prices are inflated so the "discount" seems like a favor. The American Dental Association (ADA) which is a respected source and runs the gambit of all types of dental services has no record of this doctor or the practice. Maybe they don't care and there's a bad reason not to be registered. It's got great search results but Emilie Schenck isn't in there. I come to the conclusion she cares about money over quality of service. I'm not going to say don't go there but look at for another dentist with sources you can check other than Google. Dental procedures are not cheap and want to have the work done right. I found a new dentist who gives substantive information about the doctor so I can make a better practice. I changed my dental care provider literally the next day I was at Schenck Family Dentistry to ensure her work on a crown that has fallen out 4 times can be monitored. Blame me once for the first time. Have a good conversation about the second. Show frustration the third. Get charged $1000 for a new crown the forth time will change my review to reflect the quality of work. If a crown that should stay on for years when taken care of falls off again I have my new dentist ready to set it and will take my review and complaint to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. I have a draft ready and have spoken to someone there about a path forward. It's not about fees, personality conflicts, rude behavior, or scheduling. Sending in the complaint is something I hope does not happen but certainly an option I am heavily considering. Google reviews are helpful for a quick reference but it doesn't have the teeth the Board of Dentistry has, pardon the pun. If I thought discussing this further with Dr. Schenck would do any good I would but she's already pocketed my money I'll never see again especially during this pandemic where financially paying for her poor work hurt. I have our discussions recorded because I wanted what she said was documented and wasn't a he said, she said situation. If this helps one person or even helps the business this is worth the time I've taken to make a review and ready to send more specific, relative information to the State Board and Louisiana Dental Association (which she is not a member of but still has peer reviews). I'm not using this to threaten anyone. It is only a review that contains my experiences and how serious this is and for you to decide if this is the right place for you. Bring your Visa or Mastercard that has a good limit. I feel like I was ripped off.
