Stitches Out - 6 days Yayyyyy
WORTH IT$2,800
The stitches were stating to itch so I’m glad they are coming out. Here are photos before and after removal. Dr. M said everything is healing nicely and to come back in 3 weeks. He said I have som raised areas he may want to treat with laser. It’s about a 4 hour drive and 8 if I do Round trip in one day but I’m glad I’m fairly close for follow ups. I feel it’s dropped some but I’m very happy with the subtle, natural looking improvement :) Keeping the stitches moist with Vaseline constantly, dr said to stay on that! I’ll update again at 2 weeks beauties!!

Just had my follow up with Dr. M and they cleaned of the stitches. The incision is tiny! I was worried about scarring previously but not so much now. I think withhold care it will be practically invisible.
Got my measurements: 18.5 pre / 11.5 post
He said he was able to take a little more off than we planned. I’ll drop about 1mm when all’s said and done. Im super happy with the results so far!!! Can’t wait to heal up so I can see my new smile :)

Omg! Your lips care out PERFECT!❤️
I made my appt today for him to do mine in Dec. How’s the recovery going so far for you? (...and congrats on your beautiful results!)
You’ve got to post side by side pix of your lips. It’s just amazing to see the voluptuous difference in your lips! You look like you had the surgery weeks ago. Minimal swelling and bruising. Way to go!! Gorgeous!
Really wow- your lip and philtrum look so natural- and one day post seems like little swelling and bruising. Just gorgeous! Can you close your lips together? I’m going back-and-forth about doing a consult with Dr. Mascaro. I’ve had two consultations with APS locally. I’m pretty confident and comfortable with him. He doesn’t have as extensive experience, but I did contact one woman here who had hers done by him and her pictures were wonderful and she was really happy with him. But, Dr. Mascaro has got such stellar recommendations. I am wondering, @elphie23 as I am 67, and Dr. Mascaro seems to have a lot of younger patients and dang, he’s a few years younger than my daughter So I’m wondering how your consultation went with him. I’ll be following along as well and wish you speedy healing this week. You look so wonderful that it compels me more to consult with him.
Hi Wendy!
I couldn’t help but notice your comments above and just wanted to tell you that I’m in my 60’s and had a Lip Lift. Not with Dr.M, but with my trusty ps. I’m over the moon with my results. My ps was not on the radar for lip lifts either, but she delivered me a stellar looking lip and philtrum.
Hi @ransrvr. Yes- I’ve been following you too- lurking about the lip lift reviewers! To tell you the truth, Your posts and photos of your beautiful face have made me feel more confident to move forward with this. So thank you for being so supportive of so many people on here. I scheduled with my Cleveland PS for mid January. Listen, may ask you a question? I’ve asked a few people, but one of my concerns is being able to comfortably close my lips. My surgeon said yes. But when I manually lift my upper lip I have to strain to close my lips. My doctor didn’t seem concerned about millimeters although he told me 5 mm. What I also liked about him is that he Right away noticed the asymmetry in my top lip. One side is a little fuller than the other, and he said he could make that more symmetrical.
I think I will post some before pictures in December and that will help to commit me to posting my progress. Everybody’s posts have been so very helpful and I would like to show my progress as somebody who is, ahem, older.

Hi My New Mature (LoL) Friend!
Yes, we sassy sexy sixty year old divas can still roll with the best.
I, too, was concerned with lip closure after the surgery. I’ll be honest, of course, and it was an issue, but not anything that would deter me from having this done. I kind of hibernated for a week at home until that tightness dissipated. It’s not that apparent to others, as much as we imagine it to be. I was using caution brushing my teeth and of course with eating only soft food. There are some ladies on Realself that go out in the public the next day! I, being of a fossil age, had some reservations about being in the public.
I finally ventured out when I felt I was “restaurant ready”!
Please, please, ask me any questions that you have regarding this procedure. I’m here for you and cheering you on. Love and hugs, Randi
@ransrvr Thanks, Randi!!! I'm not worried about the first few weeks, but I had seen someone a while back saying that she had to stress to close her mouth and it caused discomfort in her chin. But I see all the post surgical photos and looks like everyone can close their mouths. I will ask you something weird...… I've just begun noticing it, and it may be because now I am so fixated. Along with my upper lip feeling heavier, I notice that making the "f" sounds is problematic. I think I actually noticed this when I begun pulling my lip up and talking to see what it would "feel like". And I noticed that words with "f" or "v" were so much easier to form! And I wasn't sort of spitting. and especially "fr" words. and my all time favorite "f" word...…. lol it really seems like my lip gets in the way of forming these sounds. anyhoo - I'm likening this procedure to the upper blepharoplasty I had in April. I think only my daughter believes me, but I had it done because my eyelids (I used to rub them ALOT) got so baggy and were hanging over my eyelashes that it was uncomfortable. My insurance did cover the entire surgery because the testing determined eyesight was definitely impacted. I didn't even care what my eyes would look like because the heaviness and diminished peripheral vision was so bad. I was only worried I would have a hollowed out look. But, I have to say that although my eyes look rejuvenated for sure and the scars are healing nicely, the sensation of having this "wide open vision" is ecstatic! So - although the lip lift is definitely for aesthetic reasons mostly, I would say that it's 60% looks and 40% feel and function - if that makes sense. Sorry for the rambling - I'm generally not chatty. But am really nervous about this procedure. I'm definitely doing it, but hoping that I won't look weird to my grandchildren. I haven't even told my daughter and son-in-law yet..... thanks, Randi !
Hi Wendy!
Hmmm, so when you have your lips “elevated “ there’s no obstruction of the F sounds! Then, that’s one major plus in having this surgery! Lol. Seriously, if your top lip feels heavy, then that totally makes sense why your speech is impaired. Too bad insurance won’t pay for that too. My hubby actually had your problem with his eye lids, and insurance paid for the majority of it. It was a blessing!!
I had the longest philtrum that was making me look masculine. As I aged (ugh) I noticed that gravity was taking it’s toll on my face. I’m extremely pleased with my results!! It has dropped a tad bit over the year, but, still much better than before. My scar is virtually invisible now with the help of BioCorneum scar treatment.
Is this your second ps procedure? You never posted any profile of yourself yet? I’m on this platform for awhile now, and it’s a supportive group of lovely ladies.
I’ve have run the gamut of procedures. You can look my profile up and see my before/after. I’m considering a secondary brow lift after the new year. I’m fighting Mother Nature tooth and nail.
@ransrvr hi Randi, yes, I’ve browsed (lurked-lol) about your posts. To my delight you do not look “done” if you know what I mean. You look so vibrant and natural!
I only found this site after searching lip lifts by googling “long philtrum”. I swear! My prior only cosmetic go-to has been the dermatologist. I have pretty nice skin I’ve been told and dermatological treatments have been an economic way to stay somewhat rejuvenated -ha. Last year I had my first ablative laser resurfacing just around my mouth and chin to remove perioral lines and smooth out some little marks on my chin I’ve had for years from eczema. That laser resurfacing was a miracle! It was super painful and the downtime was about 10 days, I looked like a monster and for about three days I was literally terrified that I had made a mistake and they had scarred me. It was amazing. the deep lines in my long upper lip were almost completely gone and even the lines at the corners of my mouth were erased. Through the dermatologist I got a referral to the ocular surgeon who did my upper bleph. I started researching fill trims, because I went to the dermatologist and asked to have some filler in my lips but just a little bit thinking that maybe it would turn up my top lip and mitigate the look of the long philtrum. Needless to say, after she put the filler in it did not have that effect. I didn’t complain about it and let the filler just dissolve and that’s when I started googling about lip lifts. I’m so jazzed to be on this site, it’s so comforting to read what you all are sharing. I would probably do more if I could afford it, and maybe I’ll consider later, but my long upper lip has always bothered me and dammit, I am going to spend that money. Thanks so much! I’m on here almost daily now checking up... I’ll create a post probably mid December. My surgery is scheduled January 9!

2 hours after Surgery
Surgery was a breeze. I was in and out in 2 hours. 1st the Doctor took my photos and we went to a room to do measurements. I started at 18.5n we both agreed removing about 7mm would be a good look. We went into the surgery room and I changed into a gown over my clothes and footies. Thy put 2 blankets on me so I was warm and Cozy. He put on great music and got started. My eyes were covered so the bright overhead light didn’t blind me but I was able to talk during the surgery. Dr Mascaró is a trip, funny and down to earth. The sewing I could feel in different areas near the end but it wasn’t terrible, just tugging and pressure. These pics are immediately after, very swollen and my nostril are uneven from a previous rhinoplasty. Hope the swelling goes don quickly so I’m icing icing icing!
