I was always embarrassed to take my shirt off at the beach or pool because of my gynomasticia - I'm not overweight, but no amount of exercise (including weight lifiting) would help. At age 62, I finally decided to have surgery to correct the problem. Dr. Pacella was very reassuring and available for questions, both before and after the procedure. I had the surgery on a Friday and was back at work the following Tuesday.

Initially, I consulted with a different plastic surgeon in another practice. Didn't like his bedside manner, and that doctor also said he would not be able to do anything about excess skin after the procedure, due to my age (62). I was ready to give up! I then got a referral to Dr. Pacella from my primary care doctor. Dr. Pacella was great, and he assured me that he could remedy my condition, even addressing potential excess skin removal after the procedure. He did a great job - I have a normal guy's chest now and am not embarrassed to wear a knit shirt or go swimming. There wasn't any significant discomfort after the procedure and it was well worth it! I wish I had done this a long time ago. If you are hesitant or embarrassed, go see Dr. Pacella - he's the best!!
