2nd Degree Burns from IPL

2nd Degree Burns from IPL

$100
I had an IPL treatment done at Lavish Laser on both my face and chest. I’ve had IPL many times before and always had nice results. When I looked at myself in the mirror right after the technician finished I knew something had gone terribly wrong. I was left with red/purple squares all over my face and chest. The technician assured me it was normal. On my way home I was burning up so bad I went directly to my doctor. It was confirmed I had 2nd degree burns. The doctor said reputable clinics don’t even allow IPL in the summer due to the fact most people have at least a little tan.
Dr. Wong who owns Lavish is trained as an optometrist/surgeon. His only remedy for my burns is for me to be treated by his staff. I can’t possibly go back to his very unprofessional facility and he refuses to reimburse me for the treatments necessary for my recovery (which I would have done at a dermatology office). This disastrous IPL session that cost $100 is now costing me thousands in repairs.

I had this happen to me once years ago. Technician acted as if I had extremely sensitive skin. It will go away. Keep applying a good moisturizer. I have since done many ipl treatments elsewhere, with no problems. So sorry this happened to you, so frustrating.
Sorry this happened to you as well! It’s been about 3 months now and it’s getting better. I’ve gotten 3 VI Peels which have really helped!
Do yall have any before/ after pics and how long healing took? Currently going through this
I’m sorry to hear this happened to you as well. Were your burns as bad? Did they leave scars? Hoping my skin will look normal again!
So sorry this happened...how does the person administering the treatment not SEE that this is not right while she is doing it??? The nurse that does mine is constantly monitoring as she does the treatment...am I too red, am I too hot, she tests every setting before doing my face. The Dr that is responsible for this clinic needs to be held accountable.
So true! They should have seen the damage it was causing straightaway! It’s December and you can still see the marks on my chest. It’s terrible!
So sorry you are going through this. I had a bad experience with Infini Radio Frequency tx. Waited a year, did 6 micro-needling treatments, which even my dermatologist said wasn't working. Did CO2 laser on high which finally helped. My damage was not as obvious as yours. Would think with your photos you could go to small claims court. Depending on where you live can get up to $5000 or see if a malpractice lawyer would take your case. Find a lawyer that doesn't charge unless he gets a settlement for you which he would take a percentage.
To win, you will have to show actual damages. Small claims courts don't allow punitive damages.
Have you thought about speaking with a reputable Attorney? For this Doctor to not offer a refund and compensate you for your pain suffering is clearly wrong, and an act of greed by her. She obviously had the machine turned up too high and on an incorrect setting, because that is NOT what is suppose to happen. I am so sorry you went through what you went through. I personally think she was careless..
