Bad Experience with Minimal Results.
I had considered a facelift for a long time so I was looking for a Surgeon that was experienced in deep plane facelifts procedures .Dr Ha's reviews looked good so I decided to reach out to him and he emmediately contacted me to arange a consultation. My first consultation was via Skype as I'm from Sydney.
Dr Ha is definitely a sales person makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Smiles alot and sells himself by stating he has performed over 100 deep plane facelifts and that you are in good hands and promises he could achieve what you want as its all easy for him. I was so impressed with Dr Ha that I booked my surgery with him the next day.
Despite booking in my surgery and being provided with a date. his office failed to provide me with any pre opp instructions despite several calls to his office and emails to his assistant Dorreen.
I travelled from Sydney to Adelaide for my procedure and met Dr Ha in person the day before my surgery to discuss my procedure in more detail. Dr Ha recommended a deep plane facelift, neck lift and eyebrow lift. Altough i wanted a temporal brow lift he was insistant that i would not be happy with that procedure & a forhead lift would provide me with better results. I never felt i needed a neck lift l but Dr Ha said it will just give me that youthfull appearance by doing it. I trusted in what he had to say and felt I was in safe hands so agreed to proceed with my opp the next morning.
That afternoon I felt so rushed by his assistant Dorreen, she couldn't get me out the door quick eneough as she wanted to pick up her dog from training school. It was so rushed that Dr Ha realised that a consent form had not been signed by myself and I was asked to sign one 5 min before entering the theatre room.
Both Dr Ha and Dorreen failed to tell me what to expect during my procedure. It was news to me that I would need a cathiita installed and wear some stuff on my legs to keep circulation going as I would be under for so long. It was shocking to have to find this out from the nurse when entering the theatre room. You would think your Dr would tell you all this before hand so you know what to expect.
Waking up from my procedure 10 hours latter was disturbing couldn't understand why I was down for so long & Dr Ha was no where to be seen.Dr Ha didn't even have the courtesy to even ring my husband after my procedure to let him know I was safe despite being in Adelaide on my own. My husband was left terrified thinking something had happened to me until he managed to speak to a nurse at the hospital that night.
The next day Dr Ha turned up in hospital and said all had gone well which was a relief and said I could go back to my hotel and to return to his office in 4 days to remove the drip and bandages.
Once again I was not provided with any after care instructions by Dr Ha i was just told to not remove my bandages and sleep upright. The nurses handed me a pack of medications and was sent on my way.
That day at my hotel room I developed a persistant cough shortness of breath and had difficulty breathing and my lungs felt sore.
I texted Dr Ha to tell him of my concern however he said it should be fine and to just keep an eye on it for now....he didn't seem that concerned.
Throughout the night my breathing and coughing had gotten worse I had never felt so sick and breathless and must admit I felt scared. I thought I was going to collapse in my hotel room and noone would be wiser. Despite my concern raised to Dr Ha the previous day he or anyone from his office followed up the next day to see if I was OK...
As I had become worse I decided to ring his office to speak to someone that afternoon. Dr Ha recommended I just take my stronger medications that he prescribed and that should fix the issue.
I couldnt believe he had given me this advice. I then
decided to call the hospital and speak with one of the nurses on site. She was very caring and very helpful. She explained that because I was under for 10 hours it wasn't a good thing for my body and especially my lungs. This may have caused issues to my lungs. She told me to do deep breathing exercises throughout the day to strengthen my lungs and I should recover in a couple of days. This fixed the issue, by the next day my breathing had gotten better and better and my cough eventually stopped. You would think Dr Ha would had known this however he prescribed me heartburn tablets for this issue which I never bothered to buy.
A few days latter i returned to Dr Ha's office to remove my bandages and drip. He said my stitches would be removed after 10 days and recommended while waiting for my stitches to be removed to go and get a DMK facial at Babyskin clinic. My face was so swollen, bruised and pretty sore. My face felt so hard and I couldn't even touch it myself yet alone have anyone else touch it. Since Dr Ha, was so insistant that it would do me good I decided to book one in. However when I turned up for my facial a few days latter they turned me away and said that these facials were not recommended when someone has just had a facelift and that I needed to wait to remove the stitches and allow the swelling and bruising to subside completely before it could be done. Once again I couldn't understand why Dr Ha would tell me to go and get one. This was starting to concern me.
Dr Ha didn't even provide me with any proper compression bandages to wear to assist with my swelling. He provided me with a child's headband to use as a compression bandage to wear Underneath my chin . I was told to wear over the next 10 days even while I slept. However by the 3rd day my face started to turn red and purple where the headband was placed under my chin and the side of my face instead of getting better my face was getting worse. I texted Dr Ha and he said not to wear the head band any more. I coulnt understand why he didn't provide me with a proper compression bandage like I had seen by other facial surgeons on you tube and that he had decided to take shortcuts by providing a $1 child's headband to do the job.
After 10 days i returned to get my stitches removed .You would think when your surgeon removes your stitches he would have the courtesy to apply some ointment on the stitches to keep them moist as per his recommendations but Dr Ha couldn't be bothered ..he made me go and buy some ointment at the front counter and put it on myself when I went back to my hotel room. Dr Ha also failed to remove all of my permanent stitches so I needed to go to my own GP when I returned to Sydney as I could feel some sharpness behind my head.
Dr Ha said he wanted to see me after a month via Skype so I made a follow up appointment however despite confirming the appointment he forgot to turn up. I was so dissspointed as I had so many questions I needed to ask. I waited a few days but he never bothered to call me.
After several days I followed up with Dr Ha again and he organised another appointment with me however, he asked me to remind him a couple hours before so he didn't forget again. I couldnt believe that he had asked me to remind him of his own appointment... you would think he would set himself a reminder. Despite reminding him of his appointment he then wanted to push back the appointment till latter in that evening as he was out fishing with his son....again once again I didn't feel valued or cared for.
After expressing my dissatisfaction and dissapointment to Dr Ha he promised that he will call me the following month without the need of a reminder. He kept his word however once again he proved to me he couldn't care less as when I asked him if I could go back to the gym and if I was allowed to dye my hair he wanted me to remind him of how many weeks I was post opp. You would think your own doctor would look at his own notes before he calls his patient and know how many weeks they are post opp.
Its been 4 months since my operation and I can honestly I say that my eybrows have dropped significantly and are droopy at the side again my jowls are back. I look in the mirror and i sm so dissapointed. There is hardly any difference at all. I look exacly the same as before i started except now I have a neck that looks like a double chin something I never had before and where the tube was placed is still very sore and has purple brocken capillaries.
I looked good in the beginning but 4 months in there is no difference at all. I am still very swollen and still look like a chimp munk. I have not been able to feel the top of my head and it's the worse feeling ever to have this side affect for no grain at all ... something that Dr Ha failed to disclose .
He failed to disclose any side affect at all . I continue to have swelling ,numbness and dont feel like myself everyday. What's dissapointing the most is that I paid $50k for this procedure for hardly no results and still have all these side effects that might last forever. If the results are bad now it will onky get worse in a year time when the swelling all finalises and subsides..
Dr Ha obviously took shortcuts and didn't lift any muscles properly.I felt that once Dr Ha took my money he couldn't care less about me and provided no guidance advice and care in anything he did throughout my whole journey it was one shortcut after another. Having to ssarch google for answers is a pretty bad sign when your own doctor can't provide any answers.
Save yourself the heartache and the complications and especially your money and find yourself another surgeon that can produce results and takes care in his patience. My biggest regret is believing in Dr Ha and proceeding with my procedure. There is nothing I can do for myself anymore but accept the consequences but hoping I can assist someone else the heart ache. Happy for anyone to reach out for any questions.
