18 Months Post Op Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift.
I am writing this review 18 months after undergoing a deep plane face and neck lift with Mr Georgios Orfaniotis.
When I decided to travel to the UK for surgery, most surgeons I consulted declined to operate as I would be taking a 12-hour flight home two weeks after surgery. I contacted Mr Orfaniotis’ office as his website stated that both twilight and general anaesthesia were offered.
During my online consultation, I was advised that I would require a full deep plane face and neck lift under general anaesthetic, with a surgical time of approximately five hours. I had initially planned to have an upper blepharoplasty as well, but chose to postpone this as I did not want to extend the time under anaesthetic given my planned travel shortly after surgery.
I travelled to London two weeks before surgery and had an in-person consultation. At this stage, Mr Orfaniotis recommended that I also have a brow lift. I asked whether this could be done at a later date, again due to concerns about increasing time under general anaesthetic before a long-haul flight. It was agreed that I could return at a later date to have the brow lift alongside an upper blepharoplasty.
At my three-month follow-up, we again discussed the option of returning for these additional procedures. However, the incision under my chin did not resolve and I was left with a visible scar. For that reason I decided not to proceed with any further surgery. I did contacted the office to ask how I should manage the incision and if it was healing as expected, but I never received a response.
At 12 months post-op, I had not been contacted regarding a one-year review, so I reached out to them myself. I was informed that one-year reviews are typically arranged for patients who live in or regularly visit the UK, and that they believed they were waiting to hear from me regarding further procedures and a return visit.
I sent photographs of the scar under my chin and was advised via email that the hyperpigmentation was likely due to sun damage and that I could consider consulting an aesthetic practitioner regarding laser treatment. I was not offered a consultation with the surgeon or an opportunity to discuss my result in more detail.
After investing significant time, travel, and recovery into this procedure, I found it disappointing that no follow-up consultation was offered. In my opinion a brief review—particularly for an international patient—would have been appropriate.
While I understand that all surgery carries risks, based on my experience—including the under-chin scar, residual skin laxity, and lack of follow-up care—I would not personally recommend Mr Orfaniotis, particularly to overseas patients.
