I am a 42 year old male who has a work-related cervical injury which involves multiple bulging discs that causes me constant, chronic pain. I have been through many rounds of physical therapy; years of acupuncture; and a full year of seeing a chiropractor. I was seen by a specialist at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center who prescribed numerous medications including strong narcotics. I tried various forms of injections (trigger point, steroid, and anti-inflammatory) yet everything seemed to just control the pain to a certain extent (a level 6 out of 10, and only for a few weeks). This is where I received my first 100 units of Botox injected into various points of my neck and I experienced the greatest relief for 6 or more months. I decided to seek out the best neurosurgeon and he said that if I could control the pain with medication and Botox, he didn't feel it was the right time to operate on my neck.

Private insurance does not cover Botox injections for the relief of pain and I was astounded at the cost of recieving this treatment in a hospital setting. I decided to seek out medical professionals in my community. While visiting my family in Atlanta, a friend of mine referred me to Dr. DiFrancesco. She was a bit hesitant at first, not having had much experience with cervical injections. After requesting my medical records and consulting with my primary pain management doctor, she agreed to administer the Botox.

Her Decatur office was pristine; her demeanor was extremely professional, yet I felt like I could really relate to her. I received injections in my neck and also a little here and there around my eyes to reduce the "crow's feet" that were taking shape. I asked for more, but she said that she knew what was best and that if I wanted more I could come back at a later date. She was absolutely right. Not only was my pain treated, but I looked younger. Nothing was overly frozen and I still had all of my animated features. I will definitely return to Dr. DiFrancesco for injections, especially in her new office.

(I also inquired about fillers, worried that I was looking a bit thin from a compromised immune system. She said not now; I will let you know when it is time...and I fully trust her!)

Dr. Di Francesco is the real deal. Not only is she a board certified surgeon, she is an artist when she gives injections. I know she performs best in the OR so when that day comes (knock on wood) I will fully trust her with scalpel in hand. Take a look at her before and after pictures, especially her mastectomy patients. I think they are amazing and I can only imagine how empowering and gratifying that must be for the patients who have already experienced so much hardship. I am excited to visit her in her new office and am quite curious to try micro-needling. I am a big fan of Jurlique products and use a Clarisonic cleanser to improve their performance. Now, with this minimally invasive treatment, I can take them to a new level!
