Day 6 and through the swelling and neck bruising I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I went into this looking for a more rested looking me, and hey if I come out looking a little younger well that will just be a plus.
So here is how the first few days have gone.
Day 1 surgery that was a good day I slept through the surgery and into the next morning. I brought my husband along for this ride and got a room on the beach. Every few hours he would come in check on me and give me a couple pills and sneak back down to the pool. Personally I didn't know when he came and when he went and at this point I really didn't care, Just as long as the meds kept coming. Day 2 steady enough on the feet to look in a mirror. Now I know why the husband kept leaving. I've been turned into a monster. I've got big white compression bandage wrapped around my face, hair sticking up everywhere, face swollen three times it's size and somewhere in there is a neck and ears I can't feel. If I didn't have to go back to the doctor to get the cast off my head this day, I would be burying my head in the sand. This was my Oh god what have I done moment.
It's 10 am Day 2 and I'm off to the doctor, yeah doc it's return of the mummy, time to be freed from this torture device and schooled on how to care for the incisions and to get a real look at myself. and here comes another . Oh God what have I done to myself moment as they took off the wrapping and handed me a mirror. At first I was actually impressed as there was almost no bruising on the face, just swelling lots of swelling and a little distortion from the wrapping. But then I got a look at my neck, this is when I truly believed my doctor had strangled the wrinkles and folds of skin out of my face with his bare hands and then boxed my ears for good measure. My neck was black and blue, all swelled up, felt vice grip tight.
I had to check to see if my ears were still there because I couldn't feel them nor could I feel the sides of my face, chin or jaw... yep it was at this point I realized I was comfortably NUMB.
The gal went about cleaning my incisions and showing me the what-nots and placed me in a jaw bra. I was told to wear the jaw bra 22 hours a day until my next appointment in 7 days. I would also have to ice my face 20 minutes on 20 minutes off for the next 48 hrs and then after 72 hrs I was allowed to moist heat myself. Only my husband was allowed to baste himself in the pool and on the beach. As I returned to sequestering in the hotel room.
Day 3 face still swollen, neck is tight, neck is bruised but I can wash hair.. The joy...
Day 4 face swollen, neck tight, neck bruised and ears tingling. We got progress.. so it must be time to move around and do a little more LIKE drive 2 hrs home in my car as I follow my husbands. Don't ask why we drove separate cars, Just know this.... it was a dumb move.. By the time I got into the drive way, my neck was throbbing, the ears had fully awaken and I was screaming for Hot towels and meds.
Me and my upright pillow became good friends again and I wasn't moving.
Day 5 neck tight, neck bruised, ears functional still swollen but there is progress I can see the makings of a chin and a line to the neck. By now I have figured out the more I am upright trying to push through the day the more I swell, the tighter the neck. So what do I do... cook, dishes and play Marilyn Monroe for the Cam. Pics below lol.. I should have milked this a little longer, ladies MILK IT if you can..
Day 6 neck bruised, neck tight, neck still swells if up and about too much, but I am moving around much better, starting to see the results and know when all is said and done, I was rested well rested even if I don't look it. But I will my doc did a great job, I'm already happy and know in time the best is yet to come. I have to say I expected more pain and the swelling was the worst of it for me along with the neck bruising and tightness.. HUGS

Still bruised and swollen but getting better, I bought stock in neck scarves for the next couple weeks. I put on a little makeup, tenderly away from the incision areas. I still have some numbness in jaw and ears. I do get tired and neck will swell if I try to do too much. But all in all still progressing and happy with the early results.
