ROUND 2!! This is my second post about me getting a breast reduction so I'm not going to repeat anything that I posted before. My other post was my experience with another surgeon that was later cancelled due to medical reasons (You can go check that one out if you'd like the details...) Starting from where that left off...I live in Cali and because of medical reasons I thought it would be safer to do it closer to home and try to have my insurance cover it. I found this surgeon in SF that I absolutely loved, who specialized in breast...long story short, it took me from June-Dec 2017 for them to deny me. Because the SF surgeon didn't have any financing options i had to look somewhere else. I found this well-known and highly accredited doctor in Danville by the name of Dr. Ronan. I got a free consultation...the staff were beautiful and amazing! The patient coordinator was very helpful and informative. She helped me make a list of questions and concerns so that I didn't draw a blank when the surgeon came in. When Dr. Ronan came in he was very nice, I didn't feel uncomfortable with him at all. He kept asking if I had any questions and concerns and my patient coordinator was very great at helping me with that. My only true concerns were what size he would be able to take me down to (I really hope for a C!!) and whether or not I'll need drains. He said that he wouldn't be able to let me know exactly what bra size because no bra size is precise (meaning in one bra I might fit a C and another I'd be a D) :( and NO DRAINS AND DISSOLUBLE SUTURES!! PRAISE JESUS!! I booked my surgery date that same day (initially I booked it for March 19 and just paid the $500 deposit). I changed my date to be sooner (Jan 22) with a pre-op appointment being exactly 2 weeks prior (Jan 8). At my pre-op they gave me a big packet of everything to stop doing (smoking, drinking, certain meds etc.), what to do day of surgery, what to expect after surgery, cautions, checked my hemoglobin and heart, and gave me my prescriptions (meds for sleep, nausea, pain and antibiotics). They also took before pictures. They called me last Friday and told me to be there at 5:30 am the day of my surgery. Told me to take my prescribed sleeping pill the night before (tonight) so that I get a lot of sleep (no eating/drinking after 10 pm). I have to take a shower the morning of with an antibacterial soap (no perfumes, lotions, deodorants etc). So! It's currently 4:52 pm the night before my surgery and I feel excited but not too excited, I'm trying not to get too anxious so that my stomach starts to ache. I'll try to update this a much as I can.

Surgery day and Day 1

Rissa Smiles
Day of:
I woke up and showered using antibacterial soap (put on no deodorant). Dressed in just a sports bra, zipper hoodie, sweats and slippers. I brought my mom and fiance with me. The lady (my nurse) at front desk immediately took me back. I removed everything from waist up and put on this backless gown. She gave me this IV and starting giving me a [RS bleep] load of meds in it (like 4 or 5). She walked me through what all were (which i really appreciated) but all i could remember was the antibiotic that she told me would either make my head burn/tingle or my vagina for 30 secs..and of course it did and it was my VAGINA! THAT WAS HELL! :( My nurse also rubbed some sanitizer-like substance around my breast...She gave me one med that started to make me sleepy and after that started to kick in the anesthesiologist came in to talk to me and I only heard like 5 mins of it! lol He was very friendly though and kept a smile on his face the whole time. After that Dr. Ronan came in and started doing my markings of where he was going to cut me and place everything. I didn't really remember much of that either because i was drifting in and out. Everything seemed to be happening so fast. They rolled me into the operating room and after switching beds the last thing I remember was laughing at something they said and that was it. When I started to wake up I remember seeing a different nurse (the first one was blonde, this one was a brunette) in my room looking at the monitors..I drifted in and out for like 5 mins but when i came completely to she asked me on a scale of 1-10 were was my pain. I told her 4..which was probably a little off. It was less, the pain was more in my throat (very dry) than my chest. I really didn't feel much. She put two big pads, one each on my breast and then put on my bra. I remember looking down at my chest and thinking wow they're small!! lol they also put on pressure stockings on my legs. I came in at 5:30 am and was out by 9:15-9:30 am. I really felt good, wasn't in pain at all (except when my fiance kept hitting those CA freeway bumps). I was up talking to my mom and fiance, joking and laughing. I was VERY HUNGRY! They said i should be eating food like soup and only if i felt better i should go up to bland tasting things (rice & toast). I had soup and it wasn't cutting it for me. They called me to check on me later that day and I asked if could eat more than just soup and they gave me the go. So i had some rice and chicken and held it down good...I did start to get a little nauseous late that night so took a suppository for it. I had a little malfunction with the suppositories, they started to melt, but we managed to get them in and I was fine soon after. I slept good that night as well...i wasn't really in much pain at all.

Day 1:
Today marks 1 day post op. Today is much like the day of, not much pain but a little pain in my left armpit area (not really my breast but sucks, feels like a tightened muscle). I have complete mobility in my right arm though (but im left handed :( ). I HAD MY SHOWER! I had help from my fiance which made everything so much easier. I took off the padding (which my nurse taped to my breast-hated taking them off). I added more padding and put back on my bra and pressure stockings. They called me again today to see how i was doing. I told them my pain is tolerable but I could feel it a little more, especially underneath the breast. They told me that i could take Ibuprofen (3 times a day) instead of the Narco. All in all, I love how they look. All i really care about is them being smaller.

1 Week Post Op

Rissa Smiles
I had my 1 week post op appointment with my PS today. He said continue wearing sports bra with a little gauze on at all times (I planned to). He didn't really say much other than everything is looking good and to keep doing what i'm doing. I really didn't have big concerns/questions....next appointment with him will be in 3 weeks (Feb 19th). Uhmm..I finished my antibiotics on Saturday and i completely stopped taking my prescribed narcos, now I'm only taking two 800mg ibuprofen a day. Everything seems to be healing fine...I get muscle spasms and sharp pain go through them once in awhile (mainly in nipple area) but that's just the nerves restoring themselves. I'm still bleeding/oozing (not much and one more than the other). I was concerned with the yellow discharge that came out but he said don't worry about that, it's normal.

In the instructions my doctor gave me it said that I can drive when I'm off my narcos and when it's comfortable to do so...so yesterday (day 6) I drove to my sister's (about 15 min drive) and it was very uncomfortable to me..in the middle of the night i woke up in so much pain. i don't think i'll be doing that for awhile. I'll try to drive again though before i head back to work (i go back next Tuesday). At this rate, I think I'll be just fine working my desk job.

I think that is about it. Can you guys please check out the pictures and tell me what you think I'm currently at breast size wise...I think maybe full D cup but not sure. I'm still swollen but i'm so anxious to know what I'll end up.

It's pretty hard to tell about size this early on. It definitely looks like you still have some swelling. It can take a good couple months or so before it goes down completely. But they look good, that's the important thing! Isn't it nice not having your nipples pointing at the floor?!!

lol thanks and yes definitely! I hated constantly having to re-position them in my bra..i like the placement now but i do hope they raise a little higher.
