you look amazing! With one tca peel you get rid of your spots? I want to have a tca peel for my pih and some light scars from acne but I am a bit nervous. I am afraid of the side effects, especially further pih. Did your dermatologist prepare you with retin-a or hydroquinone before the peel?
March 14, 2016
Yes, some type of retinol serum and a more natural lightener than hydroquinone but I only used it for about a week before I got my peel. I'm sure I will continue use just for maintenance. And to make sure the spots don't return.

You must be over the moon! You look gorgeous !
March 14, 2016
Thank you! I'm so glad I did it!

You look fantastic, it looks like you have never had any brown spots on your face, do you have to keep a follow up treatments, or your done. I hope when I get mine done I get the same results.

I will continue whatever skincare regime my dermatologist recommends. Probably just using a retinol and sunscreen. I won't be getting another TCA soon, too strong and I love my results now so I don't think I need it. I had those spots for years and tried everything to get rid of them, only thing that worked was TCA peel

I'm so happy for you

hi there, can you please comment on the below:
1. was your melasma properly diagnosed? was it dermal or superficial only?
2. did you have lower strength tca peels before you went for 30%?
3. did the doctor warn you that your melasma can worsen with tca since asians and hispanics have more melanin in their skin hence greater risk of more hyperpigmentation..
4. how soon did your skin return to complete normal?
5.do you have any pictures to show how bad your melasma was? please do post pictures,i will be considering tca only due to your experience.
6. are you completely melasma free now? again, important for you to comment whether it's dermal or superficial.
please respond I will be very grateful for your help.
thanks

My melasma was dermal and my dermatologist did say that I can hyper pigment from the Tca at first but then it would lighten with her skincare products, a retinol and lightening serum. It has lightened a lot, I can now go without makeup where as before the patches were so dark I wouldn't dare. I'm just going to continue with lower strength peels from now on. She wanted to do one more Tca but it was very painful when she was applying th Tca to my skin and I don't want to go through that again. My skin looked normal day 8 - I could wear makeup for the redness. It's been over a month now and it looks great! I started using obagi nuderm now to continue evening out my skin tone.

So it was worth it because it lightened up my melasma enough that it doesn't look bad without any makeup on but I still have subtle spots that I think will go away with time and smaller peels I can tolerate

Once again I really would like to see your skin before to see the dark spots pleeeeeease! :)

Looking good so far, my esthetician recommended using organic Emu oil to speed up healing and help with itchiness. She was right! Skin is looking great after just one application of Emu oil.

Did the oil break you out? I am acne prone and just wondering. I am moving to Dallas and would love to see Dr Brown. Can you tell me if she charges for a consult (its the weekend and she is closed) What was the cost of the peel and follow up visit. Thanks so much for sharing your story. You look amazing :)
April 25, 2016
He emu oil did not break me out. She does chris for a consult but I don't know how much because my insurance covered visit. The peel however it did not cover and that was 500.00
