10/13/2018 - Update on my journey and progress

My skin texture regressed, I am sad to say. The 2nd and final subcision that was performed 2/2/2017--a few of the scars just got retethered again and my deepest indentations showed. I should have asked my derm to put in fillers right away after the procedures or at least after some healing time. But isn't that his job to tell me this? The Radiesse filler cheek lifts I talked about in mid December of last year did not last of course. Maybe just six months? Then I just tried in-home microneedling with the Derminator at a 2.25 mm depth X 3, with stem cell serums. The last one was done on 8/25/18. I am now letting my skin heal for those three microneedlings were aggressive and like "med spa" standards.
Within this time frame of the 3 microneedlings and retethering of scars, I researched that plastic surgeons are using our very own fat now through liposuction, filtering the fat, and then injecting to the face. Normally, this is done for aging faces and sometimes alongside a face lift. However, the same techniques can be used for bad acne scarring as well. Volume fill and lift. I consulted a local PS and he said he feels that I am a good candidate as my scars are "rolling." He is going to do a multi layer approach and use micronized fat (more refined) for the scars and then structural fat (less refined) for my nasolabial lines and mid face "lift." He will subcise the scars all over to untether them and then fill in with the fat. Please note that I am 58 years old now. Bad news is--as we continue to age, we lose collagen and fat. However, with acne scarring, we lose more fat than we normally would. The scars that were once smoothened out will reappear gradually with age. Now everyone ages differently but this is what generally happens to acne scarred faces, as we get older. Now, my fat is permanent but the caveat is--we still age. But--we do not have to go get fillers every 6-9 months as the fat is somewhat permanent. You can read more about fat grafting yourself here on RS and on the internet.
My surgery is 9/13/18, so I have no pictures yet. Will update more later.

What my scars looked like before all treatments so far...

A reader asked what my scars looked like before I started my treatments from age 23 onwards. I did not take pictures then as that time, there were no smartphones with a camera function. :) This is someone else's picture but it is similar and closest to what I had. Closer mixed scars, all over my cheeks )and temples too). The technology and equipment 35 years ago, were not what it is today.

6 weeks post Infini RF #2, with make up on

As I said, the picture I tried to post kept turning upside down. Now this is going sideways--I give up! LOL! This is the picture of my right cheek with make up on, covering most of the hyperpigmentation. I was told by my practitioner that the splotchiness of the pigment, created an illusion that my scars are deeper and more. I finally found a make up that does not wear off and have that cakey look, after a couple of hours. I also used a mattifying primer and not the usual silicone based ones out there. This helped tremendously. Still trying to create the best make up base, without it looking too thick. I had Infini #3 on 7/31/17. Skin has less swelling, with brown grid marks. It will all calm down around Monday and then wait another 4-6 weeks. Patience is the key.
