I’ve spent my entire life working out and staying physically fit, it’s who I am. I've also paid the same close attention to my face. I've spent years taking good care of my skin and as I grew older that included regular visits to my dermatologist for Botox and fillers, and my esthetician for regular facials and microdermabrasion treatments, all with excellent results. Alas, time and gravity finally started to take its toll and I could see my face start to sag before my very eyes. I developed little jowls, slight loose sagging skin on my neck and an uneven complexion with some dark spots. I wanted to be proactive and do something now. I decided on a lower neck and fact lift combined with the CO2 fractional laser.

Selecting a specialist in facial plastic surgery and trusting someone to perform work on your face can be an unsettling task. Do your research; read reviews; investigate credentials; listen to any and all referrals and select the physician you feel is the most talented and who listens and treats you with respect. This is most definitely not the time to look for a bargain. This is the type of surgery when you deserve the best possible talent and care. Once I met with Dr. Benjamin Bassichis, I knew I found my doctor.

After my initial consultation and discussing what I wanted, I felt comfortable and in very capable hands. I was provided with several detailed pages of information about my procedures and followed all the instructions to the letter. I took very good care of myself before, during and after and had people close to me to help me during my recovery. I did experience a somewhat rare complication of a hematoma underneath my chin on one side but my doctor took excellent care of me and saw me every single day until that issue was resolved. Personalized care for each patient is the hallmark of an excellent surgeon. And Dr. B’s team of specialized support professionals also took very good care of me and I always felt extremely well-tended.

What surprised me most about my procedure was just how exponentially fast recovery is every single day. My face looked like a train wreck on Day 2 and 3; then I started to see my brand new skin and new “freshened” face by Day 6. I did go to work briefly on Day 6 and Day 8 and went back full time on Day 12. This is not like a tummy tuck when you’re counting down months of recovery. This recovery took only DAYS to see results. But don’t forget - this is surgery. Right after my procedure, I stayed overnight at the surgical center and had excellent care. Then the first few days or so of recovering from anesthesia and pain pills are always a hurdle.

I am currently three weeks post op and am already completely satisfied and amazed at my results. And over time my results will only get better. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a direct message.

It's great to hear that you healed so quickly! Thanks so much for sharing on RealSelf. Were there any recovery supplies that especially came in handy for you?

Hello and thanks! As far as recovery supplies, I ended up loving Aquaphor. It's a greasy mess but amazingly soothing & healing. It felt so good on my freshly lasered face. Now I use a very light application to dry spots like feet & elbows at night.

It's great that you healed so quickly!! May we ask how old you are?? I'm 64 and my lower facelift that was done 3 weeks ago is still healing, scabbing and there is still some red bruising. I do think that age has a lot to do with it, aside from genetics...

Hi Vjade, I'm 58 years old and was sincerely blessed with some great genes. That and taking care of my skin since my teens. My French mother had a great influence on me.

Are you still loving it? Do you recommend the Laser treatment? I've heard that was a painful recovery? Thanks!

I am Getting ready to go in for MOHs surgery and having the CO2 fractional laser done as well.
I am so nervous about the Co2. I am turning 50 and have taken good care of my skin as an adult, I am most nervous about seeing pics of people who have developed dark skin spots. Does anyone know why this happens and what the chances are of that happening?
