Not Happy With My Rhinoplasty 4 Years Ago. Getting a Revision As Soon As I Can Afford It. Dallas, TX

Ever since I was a teenager I was unhappy with my nose. It was very wide and flat and literally looks like someone had hit it with something and flattened the bridge. When I started college I also began having serious issues breathing out of my nose. I visited several ENTs and was told that I had structural issues with my nose that needed to be corrected by surgery to improve my breathing. After one unsuccessful sinus surgery I found Dr. Spencer Cochran and consulted with him. The plan was for him to fix both the outside appearance of my nose and to improve my breathing. For a year after my surgery I was happy with my nose. My breathing seemed to be improved and it looked much better. After a year I began to see issues with my nose as the swelling started to really go down. Now 4 years later I dislike how my nose looks as much as before my surgery and my breathing has gotten worse. My nose looks very uneven and not smooth. I have cartilage that is visible in the tip of my nose and when I smile the cartilage presses against my skin and blanches it (creating white spots). I also now have a visible bump from my 3/4 view which was not there before. I also recently went to another ENT and he stated that he could not believe I had sinus surgery before because the inside of my nose does not look like it. The current state of my nose is probably one of the biggest sources of anxiety in my life at the moment. I really wish I could get my nose fixed, but I cannot afford it right now. As soon as I can afford it I plan to have it revised by a different surgeon.

I don't want to share photos publicly at this time, but if you are interested in seeing them and believe they would help your rhinoplasty journey you can PM me.

I had the same problem as you. I had 2 surgeries before I found dr Cochran and having my 3rd with him 3 years ago. After the surgery everything looked fine during the swelling period I guess but after a year and a half or so it just looked horrible. It was turned over to one side I went back to him with my concerns he agreed a revision surgery was needed. I had my revision 3 months ago and so far everything looks great. He said when he opened my nose I had so much scar tissue that was just twisted all up in there making my nose look twisted. If you look at my profile you'll find a pic of my before.

Thanks for the comment txchic7! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a similar experience. I'm not even sure at this point that I would trust Dr. Cochran to do a revision on me at this point. My nose just looks so far from ideal that I can't imagine this is all from scar tissue. I believe some of it is from surgeon error too. I hope you continue to recover well, though, and won't have to have another surgery :)

Thanks. Honestly my first two surgeries was with the same surgeon and I was so young I did no research what so ever on him I just wanted my nose to look better. Than I did tons of research and found dr Cochran. I wish I would have gone with him the first timers I feel he could've made it right then. My nose was broke. When I was about 6 years old so it was just a mess a seven a bigger mess free the 1st surgeon tried to fix it. I have faith that my nose will look good tho time around. Maybe after a year I will write a review on my timeline with before and after pics.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I saw some of your photos and posts on makemeheal forums and was wondering if you are any closer to revision? Your review of Cochran was the nail in the coffin to cross him off my list for my revision research. I want to thank you for that, it gets me one step closer to ending the nightmare of a bad rhinoplasty. Your nose looks nowhere near as bad as mine, in my opinion. Mine has assymetry problems and has over all been overressected and caused my appearance to be "strange" and ugly. I actually liked your pre-op nose, but I know how hard we are on our natural born appearances so I understand why you got it done. I had a near perfect nose and yet I went and destroyed it along with my whole facial appearance. I just want to let you know your not alone, and I hope you continue to update on your journey to help other people like you and me.

I know you posted this awhile ago, but I just wanted to say thank you! It's hard for me to share my experience, and sometimes I avoid places like here and makemeheal because it worsens my anxiety about my nose. It makes me happy to hear, though, that I have helped some people in choosing the correct surgeon. I'm still a little ways a way from being able to have a revision (probably a year), and so I haven't decided on a revision surgeon yet. It is a very difficult process!

Finally sharing some pictures

paigems
Sharing pictures of my nose now is very difficult for me. Most of the time I try not to focus on my nose, and purposely taking photos of its imperfections causes me some anxiety. I feel like it would be helpful to others to see pictures, though, so I've decided to share. I'm still on the hunt for a revision surgeon. I'm hoping in a little over a year I'll be able to start booking some consults.

Have you tried Dr Rohrich in Dallas?

I know your review is pretty old. I wanted to let you know that your are a stunning girl with or without the nose. I know that's not going to change anything for you, but in your photos I see a beautiful girl first and then I see your nose.
I also wanted to thank you for posting this review. I have a very difficult revision ahead of me shortly and I had Dr. Cochran on my list of potential candidates. I have finally decided to remove him based off of your review. I too have had sinus surgery in various locations. It has ruined my breathing, created headaches, saddle nose deformity, septal perforation, valve and vault collapse and an unattractive nose to boot. This became apparent over time. I do not wish to end up having a surgery and based off of your review Dr. Cochran seems like he'd put me in worse shoes.
I hope you find your peace, because you deserve it.

7 Years Post Op and Still Unhappy

paigems
I am now about 7 years post op. I thought I'd add an update again to bump my review up and hopefully help others. I am still very unhappy with my nose. It hasn't changed since my last update; it's just stayed it's horrible uneven pointy self. I was a revision so badly, but I cannot afford it at this time. I need to pay off my student loans first and then I plan to get one. I have not yet decided who I will go to for my revision. At this time I would still not recommend Dr. Cochran. I do not think you can honestly look at my nose and say this is a good result.

Maybe you can try filler.
August 23, 2018
I'm nervous about getting filler because I want to get a revision. I don't want my future revision surgeon to not be able to see the true extent of the problem.
August 30, 2018
Do you have before pictures?
September 8, 2018
Thanks for sharing your pics. I'm impressed with how financially responsible you are ... waiting to have a revision until after your student loans are paid off. Also I still think you can have filler. As long as you wait over a year to consult with Dr.'s, then the filler shouldn't be masking any of the issues.

I am so sorry! He completely messed up my primary. I went from have a deviated septum with 70% blockage on one side (less on other) to 80% blockage on BOTH SIDES! My nostrils are now so caved in that it makes breathing even more difficult. The bridge of my nose is now so much wider than before!! He is NOT certified in plastics and should NOT be performing rhinoplasties. I’ve had so many issues since going to him. Anyone considering him should RUNNNNN!!!!
