After years of being dissatisfied with my back...
WORTH IT
After years of being dissatisfied with my back fat, I decided to look into liposuction. Over an eight-week period, I visited 10 plastic surgeons in Dallas, Austin and Houston. I narrowed that down to two in Dallas and then scheduled an additional consult with both. During my visit with Dr. Godat he asked me how I felt about my breast- they were awful, but since going through breast cancer treatment (chemo, radiation and surgery) I just thought the appearance of my breast was the price I had to pay for being alive. I told him that I didn't like them at all, and then asked if there was anything that could be done and his reply was "of course". It was for this experience that I chose Dr. Godat. I felt like he looked at me holistically , whereas the others 9 doctors did not. Dr. Godat explained how he could do it and Chrissy his assistant reassured me. By the time it was all said and done, I had signed up for a tummy tuck, breast lift and repair with fat grafts and lipo of my back, stomach and upper arms. I had the tummy tuck and lipo of the arms in December 2016. In February 2017, I had my second surgery for fat grafting to my right breast.
Today, 8 days post op of my second procedure, I stood in front of a full length mirror for the first time since my breast cancer treatment to look extensively at myself. I cried. And cried. And cried. For the first time in years, I see glimpses of the body that breast cancer and breast cancer treatment stole from me. Also, with the z-plasty I can now lift and extend my right arm with much less pain. Other painful scar tissue and hardened areas have been removed from surrounding areas, as well. I am still swollen and still have one more procedure for fat grafting for my right breast, before his surgical plan is complete. After the swelling resolves from my next procedure, I will share before and after pics.
Lastly, I almost made the mistake of not going to Dr. Godat, because I read a couple of negative reviews about his "bedside manner". If you are looking for someone that juggles balls, turns somersaults all while telling jokes, go find yourself a circus clown; but, if you are looking for a professional surgeon that is very attentive and has a laser-focus for the task at hand, go to Dr. Godat.

Welcome, and thanks so much for sharing your story with us. I hope you'll enjoy being an active member of this amazing community. Congratulations on a positive outcome! If you could give one piece of advice to someone about to undergo the same procedure, what would it be?
