47 Breast Augmentation Revision, Change Implants to Gummy Bear. Dallas, TX

WORTH IT
I had my breast revision procedure a little over a week ago and feel fantastic.
Background: I had breast augmentation in early 2000, over the muscle. They were hard, round and just didn’t look or feel natural. I searched for months to find the right doctor for the procedure, when I found a review from someone that had her revision procedure with doctor Khan. Her education, experience and mentors/associates including Dr. Aldona Spiefel and Dr. Tebbetts, were an added benefit and factor in my decision to make an appointment with her.
The consultation (free) with Dr. Khan exceeded my expectations. I was greeted and checked in by Hannah and sortly thereafter Betty (nurse) took me back to meet with Dr. Khan. They spent more than an hour with me – listening, looking, discussing, answering questions, even taking photos, to show me where I was and what steps were necessary to get the revision. She shared photos to show me other patient results, who were in similar situation as me. She also brought out two implants to show me the difference between what I had and what I would get “gummy bear”. Wow, what a difference! When we finished, Hannah met with me to discuss the cost and process and again answer any questions.
I was so pleased I was ready and actually excited about going forward. I had a confidence not only in Dr. Khan’s ability as a surgeon, but I was very comfortable with her and her staff. It took me a long time to decide to look into the revision, it took that consultation to make the decision to move forward.
Scheduling the procedure was easy. I had a pre-op appointment for bloodwork, providing my most recent mammogram (w/in year). I completed the paperwork and was provided the prep instructions, which I followed to the letter. Betty called in the post-op prescriptions, so that I had them ready when I returned home. The day before the surgery Hannah called to ensure I didn’t have any questions or concerns. That evening Jason (Anesthesiologist) called me to step me through what would happen, when he would meet me and to answer any questions.
Surgery morning, everything went exactly as they had prepared me. Surgery went well, however I had more calcifications than expected, so a little longer than initially planned, but as I was told you don’t know until you are in, what if anything (scar tissue) will also need to be addressed. I woke up, I didn’t feel sick, I was a little sore but that was to be expected. I did have drains (which we had discussed as a possibility) – it was important to drain the original pockets where the calcifications were, but they were removed in a five days. That day, I slept for two hours and got up per the instructions and started arm raises every 30 minutes, took medications as prescribed. The instructions provided for after care were detailed and were important to follow for the 24 4hour recovery. I really didn’t have much downtime. I was sore and tender, but nothing different than expected. The drains were inconvenient, but other than that I could do everything, within the limits (there are instructions of things not to do, too).
I know the final results are a process and swelling will subside, my pectoralis will adjust to new implants and relax to allow the implants to drop, but I must admit I feel great. I am confident that the end result will be better than I expected, just based on where things are today (10-days post-surgery).
I feel like I can do things now, but I know I am not allowed to exercise for 6 weeks.
I highly recommend Dr. Khan. She and staff really are an amazing team.

Congratulations! It sounds like your revision went well and that your recovery has been smooth. Did you happen to have antibiotics prescribed? What were some of the the post op instructions for 24 hour recovery? Feel free to comment on a forum for March 2016 breast implant revision members.
